Born in one of the deepest mines in Sorneth, Archeoptero very rarely saw the light of day. He rarely dared to leave the mines, in fear of those outside. His adoptive mother had told him so many stories, so many lies.

"The shade awaits outside, waiting for us to come out... It will eat little males like you. It will eat anything it sees. You must stay here."

He was terrified when the mines collapsed. what would be his fate? Chance the risk of being swallowed by shade, or certainly die under the rubble of his home... He took the risk, though. He made it outside, following the sounds of his earthen clan members. It was so bright. It burned. It was... its was bright? how could it be bright? The shade was anything but bright!

For the first time since his hatchling days, he spread his wings. Joints crackled from the lack of use. He looked on as his dusty scales shimmered through the dirt. This was new...

Looking through the crowd. there was no sign of his false parent. Hearing chatter, he learned her and his adoptive siblings had been in the first section to collapse. He was alone now. It was about time...
