History Despite her origins in the Flamecaller’s domain, Haren is a long-term resident of the Tangled Wood. Her parents, while Ashfall natives, ended up in the gloomy marshes of the Driftwood Drag. Haren struggled for many moons trying to fit in. Her bright white hide had it difficult to hunt the same way her peers could. She worried if she would get left behind, cut away like deadweight. Thank Shadowbinder, her parents refused to do so. Instead, she learned herbalism from her mother, and how to fight from her father. She was taught that she could rely on others, as long as she promised to protect and help them. It was these lessons that would secure her a home with a fledgling clan not far from hers. Word came of a band of dragons slowly coming together to put down roots. Curious, she made her way to their small lair. She was greeted by the sharp teeth and flashing pink eyes of a mother mirror. When asked her name, she only hissed “Ameria”, before slinking away into the shadows. Her black metallic hide quickly disappeared from view. Still, Haren felt eyes on her back for several minutes after. Haren didn’t blame Ameria for her reaction, she was protecting newborn hatchlings. Little did either dragon know that they would stand united in battle in a very short time. Thankfully, that first rocky meeting with Ameria didn’t sour future visits. Once her hatchlings were big enough to protect themselves, the mirror was quite amicable - as far as her kind went. Haren found an odd sort of comfort in her blunt manner. Most of that clutch left to part unknown, to settle and serve other deities. That was their prerogative. Only one stayed, and he quickly became Haren’s second shadow. When her parents finally moved on, bidding her a heartfelt goodbye, she fully integrated into this neighboring clan. That last hatchling, named Asphodelle, became her constant companion. One of the firstborn to the clan, he was considered precious. Haren became tasked with his safety when Ameria went out with hunting and scouting parties. She used the lessons taught to her to protect the youngster, and passed them on. As the clan grew, and Asphodelle was Changed, she stayed by his side. When the ragtag clan became the Coven, she stayed by his side. Soon after, she went on to form the Sentinels with Ameria. Haren tasked herself with both defending their home and healing the sick with the herbalism she was taught by her mother. |
