Ink is just an extremely nervous dragon. He has a hard time talking to other dragons in the clan, but has still managed to make a few friendships and even found his own place in the clan where he can feel confident. After struggling as a guard, and then as a tunneler, he eventually found out that he enjoys cooking and now spends his time preparing ingredients for the clan's daily meals. Ink still has a close friendship with the tunnelers and likes to be around them even if he doesn't talk often. Dark ink is constantly leaking from the scars on his back.

The earliest thing Ink can remember is waking up in the Hewn City, circled by a group of nervous dragons. They had called him by a name he didn't recognize, and wouldn’t stop pointing at the large claw marks on his back or his many yellow eyes or the dark ink leaking through his fur. One of the dragons tried to approach him and he bit them in defense. Another dragon, in a commanding yet regretful voice, ordered the others to kill him and the remaining dragons all jumped towards him at once. Ink panicked and slashed out at the nearest dragon and fled past them, and kept running until he collapsed from exhaustion. When he woke up, there were no signs of the dragons following him. He wandered around the Sunbeam Ruins, but most of the dragons he met seemed afraid of him and would either chase him away or hide. Eventually he wandered into the Shifting Expanse where he met a mysterious obelisk named Starflight. The new dragon led him to a camp where he promised Ink would be welcomed. Ink tried several jobs with the different dragons in the group, but the one he enjoyed the most was helping Cornflower with ingredient preparation. Despite all of his interactions in the camp being peaceful, he can’t help but feel like he's being watched.
