Biography
Subspecies: Mana-Spinner
Overview
Originating from the Astrolodome, the first Mana-Spinner's were created when a maintenance crew had been accidentally sucked into the shields main power source. Due to this unfortunate event the crew had been exposed to massive amounts of mana. By the time they were rescued the mana inside had mutated their bodies and their natural mana reserves. When the newly created Mana-Spinner's first awoke they immediately fled their Arcane home. The magic of the land surrounding them proved far too much for their newly warped bodies.
Mana-Spinner's are known to prefer the domains of Light, Earth and Ice. Almost always choosing clans living on the outskirts of their respective domains.
Clan life
Mana-Spinners are classified as loners. While they will still settle within a clan, typically they will choose to live upon the outskirts. Taking great care to avoid crowds as they are very sensitive to the mana in the world surrounding them. The reserves of mana within a single dragon can be quite irritating as is, a crowd is nothing but a nightmare for them. A Mana-Spinner exposed to crowds or even just a single dragon for a long period of time, unfortunately suffer painful and irritating headaches. This can make them rather grumpy.
Whilst their exposure did unfortunately force them into the loner role, it can also be thanked for their amazing control over magic and almost unlimited mana storage. Due to their astounding control Mana-Spinner's are mainly sought after for teaching magic. Although Mana-Spinner's are very particular about their students and typically refuse to take on more than one at a time. Student's that are able to withstand the grumpiness and mentoring of a Mana-Spinner are said to come out with astounding magical abilities.
As for Mana-Spinner's interacting with their fellow Subspecies, you will not see more than one Mana-Spinner living within the same clan. That is unless it is for a very special reason. Even being within 10 miles of one another can be quite maddening to both Mana-Spinner's due to the massive amount of mana they each possess.
Characteristics
The aftermath of the Shields Power Source not only gifted them with rather unique abilities, it also changed their appearance altogether. The Spirals involved before the accident were quite the myriad of colors. Yet once they were rescued each and every one of them had turned a deep shade of purple. Adorned with neon glowing pink stripes covering their bodies.
Unlike their excitable cousins the Spiral, Mana-Spinners are noted to be calm and prefer to keep to themselves. Due to this antisocial lifestyle Mana-Spinner's have little to no communication skills and generally come across as cold or rude.
Along with their massive reserve of mana they were also gifted with other mana related abilities. One of them being the ability to sense mana coursing throughout the world. (This includes mana that is not of their birth element). Their final ability allows them to very briefly shift their own bodies into mana. While their mana is still visible when they do this, nothing physical is able to make contact with them.
Species Behavior
Mana-Spinner's will take on only one partner in their lifetime. Their reasoning for this is so that they do not have to adjust to a new mana. The pairing will take turns raising their young in either partners clan. For example, the year prior their young was raised in the mothers clan, so this year they would be raised in the fathers. They will raise their young until the hatchlings can be taught how to hunt and defend themselves.
Once the hatchlings deem themselves ready, they will leave their parents and their siblings behind. Far and wide they will search for their own clan. Typically factors for choosing a clan include, how much mana is within the region, number of dragons within the clan and how far it is from their birth clan.
As for the parents, when all hatchlings have deemed themselves ready to go in search of their own clans they will split up. The partner that travelled to the others clan will return to their respective home.
Battle Strategies
Mana-Spinner's more so view combat as a nuisance. While they are incredibly capable of holding their own due to their mastery of magic. The more dragons involved in the altercation the more difficult it is for them to come out victorious. As it is rather difficult to concentrate if you have a massive headache with even more bodies closing in.
However if a Mana-Spinner is found on the losing side of the battle they will attempt an escape. Specifically an escape using their ability to turn themselves into mana. In this brief state they do not suffer any physical harm and are more than capable of drifting themselves through solid objects. With the hope of putting distance between them and their attacker.
