Biography

Hailing from Aviniva, she is one of the clan leaders' offspring. Given a life of luxury and riches by birthright, Jin was highly respected. Like many royalty Jin too wanted more power, but this came at heavy cost as she sought power from being that many called The Shade. With Mortality lost, she seeks to sway others into violent infighting, slowly but surely tearing a clan apart.

Jin was not the only one of her clutch, as she is the middle child of three. Yasmine, the eldest, disappeared from the clan at an early age, while Nariva, the youngest is an honored scholar. All three of these siblings have royalty status due to being pure Gen 2 dragons.

Currently she does have any mates and may not ever have any.

From a young age Jin was highly skilled at telling others emotions even to the point that many said she could read into even the more secretive person's mind, making her a large asset to her clan. Over time this skill became mundane, leaving her to attempt to find a way to learn other kinds of magic. Every time she learned a new skill this satisfied her desire to be more powerful, but like the time before spell after spell this wasn’t enough; She deserved more.

Sneaking into the market late one night she came seeking one thing, anything that could grant power that she was yet to call her own. This time she wasn’t seeking to come in touch with those of the public market instead she was poking around for members of the black market that ran within the walls of the clan. She had heard rumors of “Shade touched” objects. Despite never knowing what these objects were, the mere fact that they were hard to get one’s talons on, integrated her enough that she couldn’t help but look for one. Knowing these people had items deemed “Unsafe” for the clan, one would think this would be the best place to start, the problem was locating one of these market keepers.

Stall after stall none seemed to have what she had come for, turning her down as soon as she had asked. Until she came upon the old Alchemy stand that had held its place in the market ever since the Svanda had moved in. Svanda and his mate Ender were always seen as strange within the clan, many only seeing them whenever they entered the shop they owned. But now the snake stood neck slinked out of the stand, staring at Jin with the blue goat-like eyes he possessed.

“You're looking for a certain item are you not?”

He tilted his head, allowing his glittering purple frills to flop to the side as Jin looked with curiosity and concern; Had Svanda heard her?

“Yes, yes I am, do you happen to have any quote on quote ‘Shade touched’ items?”

After a longing pause from the Coatl as he processed what she had said he waved a talon for Jin to follow, bringing her into the back of the store. The shelves were littered with potions, items and apparel, as she looked around reaching out to get a closer look at a potion just to get her arm smacked by Svanda’s tail. Opening her mouth to bicker turned to look at him as he turned with something clutched in his talons.

It was black metal mask gleaned with white gems that lay embedded in its surface, he clicked his tongue as he glanced at Jin with a question on his mind.

“How much are you willing to offer?”

Reaching into the side pocket of her overcoat she pulled out a sack of gold, picking through it trying to recall how much was within it before holding it out to him
“Would 100 work?”

“100 coins?!” His frill of feathers opened wide as he displayed a look of shock at Jin low balling him for the item he currently held

“No no no- 100 thousand worth in gold coins.”

Svanda slowly lowered his frill with a look of skepticism as he tapped on the mask, thinking over his options before taking the sack of coins offering Jin the mask, as she reached out to grab the mask he pulled it away with a serious expression.

“You best not attempt to wear this, understand?”

She nodded once again he was hesitant, before handing over the mask.

For so long she followed this warning, never wearing but only holding it in a moment of wondering, as the temptation of putting it on became stronger every time she did so. Until that temptation became too much as she slid the mask over her face allowing it to rest over her eyes, vision rendered completely useless.

At first nothing happened and Jin scuff it off as the Svanda warning being a bluff, letting out an annoyed sigh she reached up a talon to pull it off, but it refused to budge. The harder she pulled the less it moved. A sense of dread washed over her as a twisted mass of voice spoke intelligible nonsense right into her ears. She turned and spread out her wings trying to locate who had spoken but they struck at empty air.

Whatever was speaking was not physically there, it lay within the mask she wore. As Jin stood listening to the not stop bombardment of voices they became understandable, asking one thing:

“What do you seek?”

And all Jin could do was reply with a mutter, that of the word Power.

Few know what happened to her on that night, her feathers now forever stained black replacing the one lush white coat she once bare. All her home clan knows is that she is no longer welcome, outcast and left to forgotten. This is a warning to those who find her and bring her in as your own, do not trust the Shade nor those who are touched by it. Do not allow it into your clan and keep it casted out like we have as well. It doesn’t belong, it brings ruin, greed, temptation and infighting; Nothing good comes from that.
