Ghostling

When Ghostling first opened his eyes, he was greeted with the loving gazes of his parents. They were proud of their hatchling, proud that he was strong and healthy coming out of his egg. Among his siblings, he certainly seemed to be the one that might grow up the largest. But... that didn't exactly happen. There were concerns as Ghostling didn't grow. His siblings sprouted up into young adults while he stayed a hatchling. What happened? Why wasn't he growing? Was he sick?
It wasn't until they found the remains of a scroll in the nesting grounds that they realized what had happened.

A member of their clan had been collecting scrolls, carrying around armfuls whenever they went to visit the hatchlings. They didn't even realize that one of eternal youth had fallen only to be found by the young hatchling. He was now blessed, or cursed depending on what dragons thought, with eternal youth. Never to grow up, always a youngling forever. There were so many mixed feelings, though things ended up going well for Ghostling.

He was a rather devious hatchling. With those big purple eyes, so innocent and trusting, he could get away with anything. So many times, he had weaseled himself out of trouble, gotten information out of the toughest dragons, and even gotten free things with a simple look. Ghostling, with his familiar Chompy, was living a grand life doing whatever he pleased.
