Legend

"Some legends aren't heroes, you know.

"See, heroes always have to be good, right? Well, what if they don't want to be? That's when you get villains, the bad guys. And really, why wouldn't you choose that? Either way you'll be famous, but if you're know to be a bad guy and want to change that, you can save a hero's life or something like that, and you can say you've changed, and people will accept that. Not so with being a hero... every human makes mistakes, but if people look up to you, your mistakes will only be amplified, turning the smallest accident into a world-destroying incident. You can't turn back from that kind of life.

"We've changed the meaning of legend... after ages of heroes, the villains have almost dropped out of the picture. But you know, they're more legends than the heroes, for they are what created the heroes. Without someone to be an adversary, how can one fight? How can one become known? Of course, that's not to say everyone should be a villain, but that we do need some, to give us heroes and role models...

"But no one ever pays any attention to me... I don't have any experience with these kinds of things, who am I to be asking these strange questions? Nevermind you don't know anything about me, you didn't even bother to ask how I was, just sat there, ignoring me as though you had something better to do, even though you were just waiting... always moving on, never really stopping to question these things? Something to think about.

"Also, don't judge a dragon by how they appear. You shake your head at these things you hear, assuming that since I'm small and harmless, I couldn't possibly understand this; and since you're so much bigger, you must know more than I do. Or perhaps I'm just repeating things others have said. But I'm older than you know, and my size only aids me.

"You have lost so much already, just by letting go of your younger self... I still have that. I still have a whole world open to me, so much bigger than yours, which grows smaller with every passing moment that you continue thinking, trying to make reason of this world, building up walls to prevent chance from coming in and ruining the small haven in your mind, the place you go to avoid all the choas, when really, it's all chaos and all you do is keep yourself within these imaginary boundaries. All you'd have to do is destroy the barriers, let yourself dream again.

"Then you'll be able to move beyond these fears of what could happen, and acknowledge that things will come, and the best you can do is be prepared. To continue building walls, but not to hold yourself in, to lift yourself up. To finally see who you could become. To use your thoughts to grow yourself to that goal, instead of tearing yourself down for being unrealistic.

"That's what it takes to become a legend, isn't it?"
