Perła The Apostate Devout | Fanatic | Cruel   
"I cant stand the way she looks at me with all of those eyes..." These were the first words Perła heard from her mothers lips, her father had agreed. He too had found her multiple, gazing orbs to be unnerving and even more than a bit repulsive if he had to tell the truth... such a child with such an obvious amount of weak points would never thrive in the hatchery or in their clan... to many eyes meant to many opportunities to loose one in everyday life. "...Come Perła, lets go for a walk..." Her mother beckoned her stiffly and eager for the attention the hatchling followed. No words were exchanged as she trotted after the larger dragon, her little legs growing tired but her eagerness to prove her strength preserved her and she did not complain. They walked for what felt like hours, her mother leading her down the cliffs her clan had built upon, drawing the young creature away from their home and into a place unfamiliar to her. "Stay here." Were her mother's last words as she left Perła in the growing darkness... She never came back. The young Pearlcatcher huddled close to her pearl, all of her little eyes had cried themselves dry and soon she'd begun to regurgitate a thick black sludge, staining her pearl with the rotten memories of her mother's treachery of her father's harshness... Days crawled by and Perła had stopped bothering to eat, even if the occasional beetle crawled brazenly across her snout.... "What is this, I wonder...?" The silken purr washed over her as a crimson dusk cast a twisted shadow over her shrinking frame...a sallow crust had formed over most of her jaded eyes, sealing them closed. Her starmapped hide had shriveled, exposing her tiny bones...her runes no longer glowed. To weak to speak Perła rolled what eyes were open back and up to gaze languidly at the blood stained monster that loomed over her. Was, this an Imperial...? The fading hatchling heard talk before her exile of how Imperial's were enemies of Pearlcatchers...that they steal hatchlings and eat their pearls...Fear was fleeting, a dim gleam in her eyes as the Imperial lifted her in those blood crusted jaws. A feeling a safety washed over her. The monster's breath reeked of death and decay but she found comfort in the warmth that seeped into her withered skin. "....I'm....Perła..." She rasped softly between the Imp's fangs as she faded into the void of sleep...  |
