Thornbill was born into a family of tradition whom have guarded The Mother Tree for centuries. Some say he is the most skilled guardian the forest has yet seen.

Many dragons reside in the large, prosperous forest that surrounds The Mother Tree. The family of Thorns have lived and protected the lands since ancient times and are well respected for it. Originally the dury of the family was to protect just the tree, but as more and more dragons flocked to live by it, their duty changed and shifted to include guarding and leading those who live in the shade of The Mother Tree. It is the sacred duty of the Thorn family, one passed from generation to generation.

The Mother Tree is the oldest tree in all the lands and it stands taller than most mountains. The leaves of the tree stay green all year long and yet the tree provides a single fruit every other century. This fruit is sacred to all those who live under her shade, but to the Thorn family it is a proof of job done well. Every other century the honour of eating the holy fruit is given to the current guardian and the occasion is celebrated by a large festival called "the giving". Dragons from all over the world are known to join in in the festivities and come marvel The Mother Tree.

Thornbill was the youngest of the Thorn family to ever hold the position of a guardian, brough upon by the sudden death of his father. While young, the dragon is extremely skilled in his duty. The time of the festival approaches and Thornbill cannot help but to worry if The Mother Tree will bear fruit this century. There has been only two occasions where a fruit has not grown, both during the times of war when the land was in chaos.

Though dutiful and often calm and collected, Thornbull is still a young dragon by most standards. This takes shape in the form of anxiety and irrashional fear of not being good enough, even though he was raised from birth to take his fathers place once reaching adulthood.
