Ralabast

Ralabast was abandoned by his parents at a young age, forced to fend for himself far before any dragon should be expected to. Things were never easy for him, but his survival is proof enough of his capabilities. He's an expert forager out of necessity, and can create expertly concealed dens to protect himself when he needs to sleep. When reaching adolescence, Ralabast began to move away from a more feral lifestyle and interact with society. He wasn't exactly embraced, and spent these years drifting from living on the streets and returning to the wilds. The concept of money frustrates him intensely, and he has no qualms with snatching things here and there if it's to sustain himself.

His familiar, Hael, was his only long-standing companion for most of his life. Ralabast found him on the outskirts of the wastelands, wounded and dying, and nursed him back to health. They're completely inseparable, even if Hael's violent disposition clashes with Ralabast's gentle nature. The two of them have an affectionate brotherly bond.

As an adult, Ralabast decided to make his first home in the Thorndusk Altar. Or, more specifically, a series of abandoned caves running beneath it. Living among the shadow flight wasn’t so bad, and Ralabast's curiosities lead him more towards fitting in with the others in the area. He never intended to build a life that included anyone other than himself and his familiar... until meeting Kagan. She was the catalyst in his life that lead to the creation of his small clan, and now serves as his mate and constant support as he tries to offer some semblance of structure to the dragons that have trusted him with their lives.

He accepts dragons into his clan without reservation or judgement, and is willing to offer chances to even the shadiest of characters. This has resulted in his some rather unpleasant situations, but Ralabast is more that strong enough to deal with the possible repercussions of his actions. He believes that everyone has the potential to be good, and won't shy away from offering them at least one chance to embrace it.

This has currently resulted in the clan’s numbers being filled out some strange characters that aren’t so easily accepted by the outside world. Many of them are unnerving, strange, or just downright unnaturally spooky. Ralabast doesn’t care though, and accepts them all with warmth and respect. After all, who is he to decide what defines a monster? If some of his newfound friends have unexplained origins, or inexplainable abilities, that’s none of his concern. He only wants everyone to get along, and to contribute to making the clan as safe and comfortable a place to live as possible. For everyone.
