Biography

x tura_portrait.png "I just found everything I need."
Tura tends to be a bit aloof and cold when dealing with other dragons. She's not mean or malicious, just a bit distant. When dealing with dragons she knows and is familiar with, Tura is very kind. She doesn't talk much, but she always does her best to help others. She has an air of tranquility and peace about her that many dragons find to be comforting and reassuring. She is quite proficient with water magic, oddly enough, and uses it just as much to protect as she uses it to heal. When she heals, she often talks to her patients about freedom. Her words of freedom are often all anyone ever hears her speak of. When she talks about freedom and liberation is the only time she doesn't seem awkward and restrained with her words.

guyFzki.gif x Tura had a wonderful childhood… for a few days. She was the first hatched of her clutch and shortly after had two wonderful siblings, a brother and a sister. They lived happily in the Shifting Expanse. For the first few days after the trio was hatched, their parents took them all over. They saw the farms and the canyons and it was all so so beautiful. On their fourth day alive, when the hatchlings were beginning to take a few steps on their own and fly in their own clumsy, untaught manner, the happy family went to the beach.

The shore between the Shifting Expanse and the Sea of a Thousand Currents was the perfect place to hold a little family vacation. The parents idly watched while their children played. And they didn’t notice. They didn’t notice the children throwing sand at each other or eating the sea slugs. They didn’t notice Tura wandering closer to the water’s edge. They didn’t notice her trying to swim out into the water. They did, however, notice that their eldest daughter was gone. Her tiny head had dipped below the surface and she was sinking deeper and deeper into the sea. Her parents searched long and hard for her, but eventually gave up. They mourned the loss of their daughter. She would forever be remembered in their hearts.

Tura struggled under the pull of the waves. She clawed furiously at the water. She tried to scream only to pull more water into her burning lungs. Everything hurt, she felt like she was on fire; no matter how much water she was surrounded by, she couldn’t put out the fire. She started kicking, trying to get to the surface, but the waves kept pulling her further and deeper. It hurt, oh gods, it hurt so badly. Her head and body started to feel heavy. Everything hurt and then, it didn’t.

A sense of calm washed over Tura. It was the feeling of acceptance. She knew she was going to die and she accepted it. She allowed the water to fill her lungs and drag her deeper into the water. Her vision started to become spotty about the same time her back hit the sandy sea floor. For a moment, she thought she saw her mother, talons outstretched to save her. She couldn’t move, she couldn’t think, she couldn’t do anything. She just hoped that her mother would save her. She wanted nothing more in the world. Then, everything went dark.

When Tura awoke, she was in the same place she had blacked out in. She cautiously opened her eyes to see a strange inky blackness around her. It looked vaguely dragon shaped, but it was more fluid. It kind of smiled at her before extending a shadowed talon towards her chest. It gently touched her soaking wet fur. Pain exploded from Tura’s body. She reached a paw up to touch her head where it hurt. Strangely, she felt fins. She slowly felt herself only to find gills, an esca, and webbing between her talons. Her gills fluttered against her neck, filling her lungs with sweet sweet oxygen.

The now mutated hatchling pulled herself up from the ground and approached the blackness. She intended to ask it’s name and how it had changed her. She wanted to be able to thank it. The creature stopped her with it’s words.

“Rest now, child. You will find me again.”

Tura’s head was full of fog suddenly. She tried to fight it, but ultimately, she succumbed to the allure of sleep. She curled up in the sand and fell into a peaceful sleep.

As Tura grew older, she started to live in the deep sea with the water clans. Many dragons questioned how she developed such odd mutations and she found it hard to explain. When she did tell them the truth, they called her crazy or accused her of dealing with the Shade. But that wasn’t it. She knew it. The Shade was a faceless entity who craved destruction. This was something different. This was freedom and liberation. Thanks to the blackness, she wasn’t restrained to land or restricted by the limits of magic and technology. She was one of the few dragons who could dominate the land, sea, and air.

Eventually, after enduring many horrible conversations about her mutations, Tura decided she had to figure out exactly what had changed her. She left the sea for the first time in many years and let the fresh, unsalted, unfiltered air fill her lungs. It was an odd sensation, but one she would certainly have to get used to.

Tura was unsure where to start. She hadn’t found anything where the incident had happened and she honestly didn’t really know what she was looking for. She thought logically and decided the best place to start would be the Sunbeam Ruins and the Starfall Isles. Two places where scholars gathered. Surely, they would have some information on this mysterious entity.

Tura was wrong. After wasting months traveling and scouring every library she could find, she found nothing. She found herself in the Starfall Isles, almost a year older, with nothing to show for it. Frustrated, she started walking. She walked and didn’t stop until she was many days into Dragonhome. Hot sun beat down on her feathers. She felt like a fish out of water. The heat cracked her scales. She was covered in scabs and bleeding when she finally collapsed. The sand felt so warm against her cheek. She dug her talons into the warm earth and gasped for air. Her lungs rattled, full of dust and dirt. She almost laughed. It was oddly familiar. It was almost like she was drowning on dry land.

Tura thought the heat would take her when she heard dragons. She felt gentle claws lifting her head and giving her water. She felt magic overtake her body and heal her wounds. Her head was clouded and she couldn’t quite hear what they were saying. She stood up on shaky legs and blinked the dust out of her eyes. One of the dragons around her handed her a heavy tome. He said something to her before he and his group took to the skies.

They had left behind food, water, and even a satchel for carrying her meager belongings. Tura hastily chugged the water, hoping to let her mind clear. She packed everything up and flew to a small cave to seek refuge from the heat. She cracked open the tome and began reading. She was enthralled and didn’t stop until she finished the whole book. It was about an entity called Chaos, the first deity of Sornieth. No, not just Sornieth, but everything. Tura was sure. Chaos was what had helped her that day in the sea. It gave her freedom, choice, and control. Reading about Chaos brought peace to Tura. She felt whole and complete. She felt as though her life was her own.

Tura was finally in control. Chaos gave her peace. Chaos gave her freedom. Chaos gave her life.
