Mairead sat in her "bedroom" though it felt more like a prison in the dreary grotto, preparing herself for what is going to be the biggest fight in her life, the one that allows her control over her life. Wrapping her tail neatly around herself, she went over the spell she found in the tome by her father's sleeping quarters last night. In a secluded part of the beach, a wildclaw was practicing the same thing her clan had forbidden since as long as the oldest members could remember, magic. Waves were not controlled but harnessed, flying towards a rock that stuck from the ground. It was un-tamed, flowing through an un-practiced vessel. A tome was lying next to her pages upon and held by rocks. Blinking her eyes open, she heard the distant ringing of a gong echoing through the cave system. The fight has begun. She won. She used the water, and much to the leader's chagrin, it was allowed. The elders said that there was no rules about using magic in fights. Now she was free, wandering around the Viridian Labyrinth, with no where to rest or stay. Mairead was following a stream her clan used to hunt at. As she made it over the crest of the hill, she could see islands scattered in the ocean. On the largest Island, rested a large sequoia tree, looking as if the Gladekeeper placed it there with her own claws. Next to it, on a smaller island, laid a small hut, nestled into the trees that littered all of the islands. Mairead, sprung from the cliff tucking her limbs close to her body, spreading her wings wide, before tilting them downwards and plummeting towards the hut. She was determined to meet whoever, or whatever, lived there and get them to show her the closest village. Mairead spread her wings wide, lunging forward towards her opponent. She wound water around her claws, much more refined when she first did this move on her mother. |
