Rytys grew up knowing a love of the natural world, having been born in the flourishing lands of the Viridian Labyrinth. However, as she reached adulthood, Rytys’ focus shifted from the land to the sea. She saw the vast diversity of life in the water, and it fascinated her in a way land-dwelling creatures never had. Perhaps it was the mystery of the deep, but Rytys was entranced. She quickly began to study all things of the ocean, spitefully leaving behind almost everything she knew in her life. She spent hours studying the fish, squid, dolphins, turtles, kelp, coral, and anything else she could find. She kept detailed records of their populations and interactions, though most of her research was done on a boat, as her thick coat of fur made swimming rather cumbersome and uncomfortable.

Somewhere along the way, Rytys found herself making friends with a Guardian known as Nile. The fisherman was a quiet soul, wanting to make the ocean a better place more than anything in the world. Despite Rytys’ general “tough” attitude, she found herself making friends with Nile, and the two would come to work together for many years. Rytys would develop reports on fish populations based on Nile’s observations as he swam, and Nile would use said reports to tailor his hunting to the current environment. It was a win win for both of them. It was a strange place, but Rytys believed she had found her home in the world.
