Kaas lived as a regular shoemaker, until him and his mate Penny fell on hard times. To make ends meet, they began pickpocketing other dragons, using their small stature to conceal their misdeeds. They were recruited by Kyou, another Veilspun, into the Syndicate, a gang of bandits, and found a community of struggle. Penny joined as well, as her undying love for Kaas would take her anywhere, and the two became quite the dynamic duo, going on large-scale missions of theft and burglary within the Heritage Clan. After a while, Kaas realized he was stronger than Kyou, and after taking Kyou down in battle, seized the leadership of the Syndicate. There, they learned who was really pulling the strings. Papi, a Banescale as brutal and cold-hearted as they come, controls the Syndicate from the inside, and Kaas realized he bit off more than he could chew. Immediately with the help of Penny, he created a contingency for if he were to be overtaken. When Rirasul, a new, promising recruit, rises the ranks and seizes his spot, Kaas and Penny flee according to their plan, hoping to find a new clan to settle in to escape the life of criminals and go back to simpler times.
