Biography

Vernaajinnai is the quiet sort of eccentric; he wanders off at a whim and comes back at a whim. He seldom speaks, and when he does he speaks little, and softly. Sometimes, he hibernates for weeks, or months, or even years at a time, and during these periods he dreams. He dreams of artwork and stories, solutions to the problems of his clan, interesting experiments... once upon a time, he dreamed that he and his lovemate Hiherapinth would be the cure for an ailing spirit in a subterranean grotto. Since they destroyed the Shade creatures that were feeding on Yowamtao, he and the flamboyant spirit have become close friends. Yowamtao likes to hear itself talk and will ramble on for days at a time, and Vernaajinnai is pleased to listen, occasionally speaking a single word or sentence to prompt the spirit's monologue along. Rumor has it that Vernaajinnai doesn't just like listening to intelligent speech; some say he can hear the underground rivers eroding the stone, and changing weather miles above the grotto, and even the songs of mushrooms and creaking joints of tectonic plates. If you ask him about these rumors, he just looks at you until you feel uncomfortable and walk or swim away. Hiherapinth, Yowamtao, and some other old denizens of Prism Grotto will attest that he does raise his voice when he must, and then they will tell you that you should be grateful you have not lived through such a time.
