I.
Uh-oh, looks like this unusual Imperial wandered a little too far from his home lair kiwisun ShadowPiper (294852), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

Born in a buried nest in Wispwillow Grove, fear arose from those dwelling nearby at the sight of the Shadow born Imperial. Those around mumbled and whispered, laughing and screaming, seeing the darkened shadow climb out of the rotten stump to make its way out into the open. Muck clung to his scales while he fought to move through the grasping oil. Though, for the other dwellers, their minds were focused on how the dark substance enveloped his body. "Shade-touched," they whispered to one another. "Shade touched, despised, awakened from the void."

Although young, he could hear the horror in their voices and the fearful grins of one another. Eventually unleashed from the oil, he cowered in front of the strikingly tall dragons that cowered over him. He had nothing to defend if they deemed to hurt him. Instead, he used his only instinct that he had been born with: flee.

In a matter of seconds, he jolted out of the region, scurrying past the bickering noises and eyes peering out from deep in the darkness. His limbs hadn't fully gotten used to walking, making everything a lot harder to navigate. From what he knew, his parents weren't around when he had awakened, nor was any of his siblings. He hadn't a clue why he was there or remembered anything about the past. All he had going for him was running through the endless pine trees that snapped and shuttered around him. Every now and then he would get stuck on branches or thorned bushes.

He continued to run far into the distance. Dragons called after him as he ran, though it was hard to tell the difference if they were friend or foe. It was only until he got tired that he began to slow down and take a rest in the next place he stayed. . .

II.
He looked down at a dark purple river silver specs floating in it. He leaned down contemplating drinking the water when he was pulled up by his horns by a large gaoler. Frightened he stared at the dragon, or was it even a dragon? Their eyes were purple, yes but they seemed different.
“What is your name young one?” The Gaoler asked him “and why are you looking for my river?”
He tried to respond but found his mouth would not make words, so instead he just stared up at them noticing what was off. They were shade touched just like him! He still didn’t know what to do though.
“Fine, I suppose you won’t tell me no matter how hard I try so I may as well take you back with me.”

They had been walked a bit when they entered a clearing were many dragons slept. The older dragon walked to a large tree and carried the confused imperial up into it before setting him down.
“We‘ll need to call you something.how about shaded?” He nodded in agreement not being able to think of anything better
“My name is Lethe it’s nice to meet you young shade” Lethe then disappeared coming back with clean water and some meat for Shaded and over the span of his childhood she taught him how to read and write.

Shaded lay in the sun debating his options. This place was nice but most people ignored him here and it didn’t feel like home.he also needed to find his purpose so in the middle of the night he snuck out. Leaving a note for Lethe

III.
Exhausted and with nothing but the fur on his back, he trudged on in the seemingly endless rain, beyond the beaches of The Sea of a Thousand Currents, on the border between the Tangled Wood and Sunbeam Ruins, Shaded travelled. He had no destination, no home to return to or friends to travel with. He just placed one foot in front of the other, through mud and rain, wind and sun. The loneliness of being different, 'cursed', born of the darkest void, was a weight that was like drizzle off his scales, barely a burden. But the long stretches of isolation and exile from those he came across turned that drizzle into a torrential downpour that blinded his senses and dragged him down.

Should he head back? Head back where? To the drudgery of a life in solitude and bordem with Lethe? Would she even welcome him if he made it back? He huffed to himself and shook his head to clear those thoughts. It was too late now, his best bet was to just keep walking, even if he couldn't see his own feet from the sheets of water that poured down...He was forced to stop, after said feet slid out from under him, tangled in what appeared to be...String? As he brought a paw to his face, the fine, ink-black stands seemed to disolve and scatter. Purplexed, he turned to look at his surroundings a little closer, squinting against the water in a desperate bid to see just a little futher.

He felt his chest sink however when he saw eyes, two pairs to be precise. One briliant red pair, and one that seemed to suck in what little light was left. Those eyes were a part of a massive dragon, two heads looking down at him, one inky black and twisting, the other cyan with odd black spots that squirmed and moved across his scales.
"Hey, need a hand?" Asked the cyan head with a soft rumble, almost like a kindly purr. while the inky black head scowled at looked to his counterpart. "You said we'd caught game, it's just a damn traveller too clumsy for his own good!" With a good ear flick, the Cyan head whipped the other on the nose. "Shut it, you're only here because you can see in this deities-damned rain, and Viven can't keep watch alone. If only sugar was..."
"Sugar's not here, so deal with me!" The inky head scorned, with a inch of pride etched on his muzzle before twisting his face and shouting indignantly, seemingly disappearing into nothing.

Shaded had pulled himself to his feet during the short interaction, originally with the mind to run from what he initially thought was the emperor he'd heard roamed these parts, that was until they talked, and that second head disappeared without a trace. He felt something tug, deep down in his guts, as the Imperial approached him until their noses were almost touching. "You're in dire straits kid, this rain's enough to get a Guardian sick, not to mention you've got such poor control over that shade in you..." The imperial seemed...empathetic? His eyes echoed Shaded's own, burdened and lonely, but they were calm and collected. "Bet you've been alone a long time, come with me, I'll get you a hot meal, and we can talk, if you want." He turned his body, tail twisting gently around Shaded's shoulders. A guide to follow. For some reason that weight was comfortable and reasuring, and he followed behind with a sense of determination, and a lot of questions that needed answers.
