Tempest was, once upon a time, a Tundra known for having an even greater sense of smell than others of his kind. He did not understand exactly what Hecate meant when she offered to turn him, but she smelled of hidden threats and power. He agreed. He was trained in basic combat by Azrael, but advanced training fell to Hecate herself. Tempest became the pride and joy of the Moon Division.

Cassus performed a spell on Tempest that allows him to better remember the scents of each dragon in the Arcanum, and Tempest's newly enhanced skill in magic only further advances his tracking capabilities. Any dragon who hopes to betray or stop the swarm has to hide from Tempest's nose, and he can smell them from miles away. Anyone who smells like an enemy to his swarm leader must be hunted down with prejudice. Any reason that Tempest may have had for defying Hecate has long since been forgotten.

A small, hidden part of Tempest hurts every time that he eliminates one of the swarm's enemies. He remembers, distantly, a time where he was able to do more than fight and kill. He may be a Veilspun now, but that doesn't take his old instincts away from him. He does not like all of this fighting, but the swarm is in danger. It is Tempest's job to protect it. Hecate and the swarm are his family, and Tempest can't leave his family behind.
