Danae

Danae is a young dancer, who travelled from the Icefields with Leda. She's impulsive, light-hearted, and eager to meet new dragons. Her open heart had gotten her into trouble before, but she couldn't help but fall for the mysterious Miasma who arrived at the same time as her.

He was closed off, but seemed receptive to her gifts and flirtation. After some time, he finally began to open up, and trust her with the secrets of his work. Danae was so caught up in her new love and the possibility of reciprocation, that she didn't stop to analyse any of the red flags—before long, she was dealing with much shadier matters than she'd ever encountered.

Things became worse when she noticed Miasma becoming sick. She tried to help him however she could, but he refused her offers of healing. Finally, he revealed that the sickness was a parasite, and that the only way she could help was by taking it on herself. On the principle that love requires sacrifice (and his promises that once he was healthier, he could go out and find a real cure), she agreed.

Her new sickness made her an outcast, and she inevitably turned to Miasma and the rest of the criminal underworld as her new community. She shut herself off from Leda—she saw how happy her friend was with new mentor, and didn't want to drag either of them into her mess. Needing to earn her keep, she began dealing with Corvus' gang in earnest, though even they were wary of her wings. She's given everything to Miasma, and now she has nobody else. She hasn't danced in a long time.
