The Timekeeper.

» About
Toranux is the timekeeper of the Oasis. She is a rigid, somewhat nervous dragon, who is extremely ritualistic almost to the point of obsession, and she is never seen without the giant pearl she clutches in her claws. She is a near copy of her mother, Astrologer, the only difference being the colour of the fluid in her capsule. The pearl she owns was also a gift from her mother. Toranux works and lives mainly with the Shadowborne, as it can be difficult for them to judge how much time they have left in the day before the sunrise which indicates the end of their work. She sleeps upside down like a bat, in order for the capsule fluid in her chest to respond to gravity and flow. There is a bottleneck in her capsule which acts like an hourglass, dripping a little bit of fluid at a time, which is perfectly synchronized to 12 hour intervals. When her capsule is full, she wakes up and begins waking up other Shadowborne to begin their night work. If any other daytime dragons of the Oasis are awake by this point, she gently reminds them about the hour and advises them to get some rest. During the night, Toranux flies around to meet with Shadowborne members to catch up with their work, and she keeps notes on who is doing what, and when, so she can pass it on as a summary to Rosetta. This lightens the burden on the Shadowborne as Toranux is their scribe, so they don't have to write formal reports on their own at the end of their already long nights. Toranux's chest, eyes, and wings glow faintly in the dark, which makes it easy for those around her to tell the hour, but it also makes her a very easy target for nocturnal predators. Because of this, she prefers only to leave the Oasis with the company of another capable dragon.

Toranux is a religious dragon who repeats many of her tasks day after day, in almost the exact same way. She sends prayers to the Wingsinger for giving her life and a beginning after she wakes everyone up, and then after everyone goes back to sleep, she offers prayer and thanks to the Flamecaller for giving her a home, family, and a purpose. She does so by drawing ritual circles on the ground, lit up by a candle in the very center which she uses to burn incense. The incense is wafted around the cavern and out of the exit. It means to protect something desirable; in this case, it's her home and loved ones.

» Her favourite flowers are hydrangeas.
» The only tea she drinks is butter tea, which is something Rosetta had to learn how to make after meeting her.
» She has never mistimed or been late for anything in her life.
