Biography
He remembers traveling, with an older... no, younger brother. They were both late teens, at that time, the time when they went looking for the Abyss. A very idiotic thing to do, for merely traversing the deeper depths of the Shrieking Wilds without proper company was dangerous, let alone doing so and in search of the Abyss. The two were far too naive to know better than to leave their small, boring village on such an excursion. Even if he and his brother wouldn't have childishly challenged each other to find it, though, they would have still done so, as it was written within their Fate.
"Look, there it is!" [Name]'s brother called out. "R-Really?" [Name] asked, his voice trembling with fear as he recalled what a passersby had told him: "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you. The Abyss will try you. Don't blink." What a mysterious saying, a saying which [Name] could not interpret back back the, just as he wouldn't have been able to understand why his and his brother's actions would have resulted in things happening like they did.
At the end of a pathway of which was adorned by beautiful mint-colored flowers, where the plant-life grew most lushly, with vines growing on trees that stood well over two hundred feet tall trailing down into it, was the gaping hole known as the Abyss.
Oh how he rues the moment that they laid eyes on the ever-tempting Abyss.
[Name] halted at beginning of the flowering pathway. "We.. we should stop here." He murmured, rubbing one of his arms with an indecisive look on his face. "Hey now," His brother started, already halfway down the path, turned and walked back to him. "We didn't come all this way for nothing, did we?" He outstretched a hand, patting [Name]'s shoulder. "It'll be fine. Just a peek and we'll be out of here, right?" He said, trying to reassure his wary older brother, and [Name] did appear to be a little less bothered thereafter. "Okay. Real quick, and then let's go back home." [Name] replied. "Great! The sooner the better, then. C'mon!" Grabbing [Name]'s hand, he hurried him along towards the end of the path.
The two slowed the closer they drew to the gaping hole; they could tell from a distance that it was very wide, probably at least 300 feet from them to the other side of it, and as they drew even closer, also noticed that it was perfectly circular. Finally, the two stood at the very edge of the Abyss. It was deep, and almost darker than the night itself if not for an odd blue-green glow reflecting on something within it. "Is that... water?" [Name]'s asked, to which his brother replied not to. "No.. no, it's thicker than that," He added. "Almost like oil..." His brother said nothing still. "H-Hey, I-I think we should go-" Turning to face his brother, he stopped halfway through his sentence, now seeing that his little brother was on his knees, bent over by the edge, gaze held firmly on the reflective colors deep within the Abyss, as if hypnotized by it.
