Gemma before the incident

The pearl slipped from her grasp, tumbling down into the well. “NO!” She shouted. She grabbed it in the last moment, but fell in. She flapped her wings, in an effort to get back up, but something grabbed her foot... a melting, burning sensation spread from it. Gemma’s eyes widened. She wanted to scream, not out of pain, but for help. But she couldn’t. She fell, down, down, down.. Her scales melted into purple water, mixing into the pearl. After that, she never came back.

A few days later, the water in the well bubbled, and a head emerged, gasping for air. She squirmed around in search of the pearl, not realizing that it was already inside of her, on her, in her soul. She scrambled out of the well, soaking wet. She looked in the well, and gasped. “W-what? No, that can’t be, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa“ Her reflection stares back at her, no longer shining, glowing and magnificent. Even the imperials wouldn’t be proud, she was tiny. She was an imperial.

A few days later
Gemma reached Fire territory, the ash felt good on her scales. She was home.
