Biography

The middle child of Scarlet's first Dance, born of an agreement of alliance between the Reanimated Hollow and Clan Ahnraeth. Minstrel was not the result of a nest, but of a fell ritual performed by his mother, combining the pieces of a number of dragons into a single, cohesive whole. He does not remember being any of those others whose bodies were used to create his, and his mind is is own. Mostly.

The Nightmare that gives his mother her powers may have been born of the Shade, but it is far from that existence now. It lives always in the back of his mind, whispering and fueling his powers. The whispers are not difficult to ignore, here so far from the Hollow where the Nightmare dwells, and Minstrel is largely free to live as he sees fit. It so happens that the Nightmare wants a performance, a song, and that is what he wants as well.

His voice is high and clear, a mountain spring in winter, and he spends much of his time singing. There is not always someone to sit and listen - though the voices are always quiet when he sings - but he is more than happy to go on regardless. Those who do bother to listen might find themselves struck by the odd sensation of loneliness, even if their loved ones are by their sides. And that night they dream of shadows and fire.

Minstrel himself does not dream, and in fact rarely sleeps at all. He waits for the day the war of Clan Ahnraeth finally comes. His mother has secretly sworn alliance with each of the three factions, and it will be interesting to see which will come out on top in the end. There is no love in his heart for his sire, Fehaeri, who was only doing his job in his contribution to creating Minstrel and his brothers. He would, of course, be saddened were something to happen to the imperial, but it would mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Sometimes he wonders if he will ever perform a Dance of his own.
