BRUMAIRE

patron of sunken objects | peculiar, attentive, helpful

Most often found on shorelines and within marshes, Brumaire lived dormant within the darkest depths of the waters until civilization's demise awoke him. Sunken ships began to litter his domain once the gods' children learned to sail — and Brumaire was stirred from his rest among the reeds, curious and provoking to the objects that soon made up his domain. He has developed a penchant for these such lost things and wears them about himself much like a decorator crab. During the rare times Brumaire returns to the surface, it is most typically to aid another; some items, he realizes, are still required on the surface, not ready for his collection. Many mortals think him a runaway or perhaps a specter: very few have ever heard Brumaire's voice, echoing hollowly within his barnacle-covered mask. Quite long ago he found an old staff. that had sunk with a boat bearing no flags. A young skydancer who frequented his banks bartered with him incessantly, and eventually he traded it for her for a riddle and a handful of Tempest gears.

Brumaire's summon is a flower nymph named Lurk, commonly found on the surface and more often seen by mortals than him. She has a mischievous streak and enjoys luring dragons to their drowning death in a misguided attempt to grant Brumaire more treasures; more often than not, Brumaire will save the unfortunate fools, and send them on their not-so-merry way.
