Thanos

Rarely present or seen in the inner workings between the Quarters, Thanos busies himself with the plethora of work that always seems to cross his desk. Everything does have to die after all.

Despite his absence, Thanos is well regarded among the Quarters and his power and influence is well respected.

But while Thanos never starts discord among his fellow courts, he can always end them. Natural resources dry up, traditions fade to obscurity, magic lost-everything can die. Such has been an mostly unspoken understanding. The Death Quarter holds sway over the others, but are typically absent from day to day affairs.

Maria had once challenged Thanos on this. That Death should be under her Life Quarter, because something must live in order to die. Maria then started mechanizing to pull the two courts together to serve under her. Upon learning of this coming coup, Thanos went straight to Maria’s hearth and slammed his scythe into her desk as a challenge. A direct challenge of power, one that Maria deferred.

They say there is still a hollow gash in Maria’s desk to this day.
