P E R S O N A L I T Y

Between her nonstop jokes and her boundless energy, Sapphire is a natural entertainer. She's friendly and outgoing and has a bright personality to match, and she's widely loved for her humor and ability to make even the worst situations a bit less upsetting. Her eternally-cheerful attitude draws people to her, and she's often one of the first dragons her clanmates will turn to if they're feeling sad or lonely. Sure, she tends to grumble a bit when she encounters large amounts of pine pollen, as she's allergic, but even when she's unhappy she's usually still willing to crack jokes.

Sapphire is also very adventurous, and she's always down to try new things. Other dragons admire her boundless energy and eternal positivity, and her happiness is almost always contagious. There are a few things she doesn't like, of course - the color orange being the most prominent - but even in the face of those things she tries to stay positive, and since most of them aren't very serious things she usually doesn't have a hard time with that.

A B I L I T I E S

Although she looks like a normal dragon, Sapphire actually has a very unusual ability: she can teleport! Once she knows where something is, she can go there in the blink of an eye, vanishing and reappearing in a puff of blue sparkles. She can also bring other dragons or objects with her by teleporting while touching them, and although she had trouble with accidentally bringing unwanted things with her when she was young she's since learned how to better curate what she brings along.

Sapphire's other main ability is far more normal for a light dragon: she's capable of using her light music to make her eyes glow a bright gold color. She tends to do this when it's dark out, as the glow is bright enough to raise visibility quite sharply in whichever general direction she's looking. It tends to backfire in foggy conditions, though; the light usually just reflects back into Sapphire's eyes and doesn't help her see.

I N S P I R A T I O N

Sapphire is technically a fandragon, but she's not based on a franchise or piece of media; as a matter of fact, she's based on the car my family had when I was a kid! The real Sapphire was a dark blue Mazda 6, and for me she's always been a symbol of childhood. She was a major character in Kittytown, the fantasy world I created for myself at a young age, where she appeared alongside a cast of colorful characters including my feline alter ego, a wide variety of other cat characters, and a few other sentient vehicles such as the RMS Titanic and an evil fighter jet inspired by (read: stolen and adapted from) Little Einsteins.

My family's previous car was actually the reason Sapphire was capable of teleportation in the world of Kittytown. See, when I was very young, I really wanted a flying car (still do, actually), so I decided that obviously our current car should be able to fly. Then we got Sapphire, and somehow I decided that each car brand would have a different ability, and so it came to be that in Kittytown and its greater universe - called the Animal World, due to my poor naming skills as a child - Mazdas could teleport, Hyundais could fly, Fords had x-ray vision, and so on. Cool, right?
