Unfortunately, Solaire was born with too much fire.
Fortunately, he doesn't care. When he hatched, the flames licked his eyes and set his delicate new scales a blaze. He didn't mind of course, it didn't exactly hurt. His parents, however, were less than thrilled. His mother blamed her mother's cursed line while his father, multiple eyes blinking in confusion, pondered exactly how he could hold his new son. He eventually held up a talon to his ranting mate, nosed his way into his workshop, and pulled out a pair of tongs meant for handling coals and other blazing hot metals. Squeezing in next to his mate, he plucked his son out of the nest, and held him up, beaming. Solaire simply sneezed at such a matter, while his mother looked with a mixture of pride and disgust. Solaire eventually outgrew (and partially melted) those tongs and new ones had to be commissioned.
