Abandon steals other Pearlcatchers' pearls, a grave sin among their kind. She carves the pearls into jewelry, or sells them to curious tinkerers or fellow jewelers. She does this without any semblance of remorse. A Pearlcatcher losing their pearl is a tragedy indeed, but having it taken away from them deliberately is like psychological torture. Some are driven mad by the loss of their sense of self.

Abandon is aware of this, and chooses to ignore it.

It began when she was very young. She left her home clan and went to seek her fortune. It did not go well, to say the least. She ended up starving and dangerously ill, without a single treasure for food or medicine. In her desperation, she found herself begging in a dark corner of a distant city. Some wealthy merchant passed her by, and saw an opportunity. He offered her a hefty sum in exchange for her pearl, her only remaining possession. Bereft of other options, she accepted.

Among Pearlcatchers, it's said that one's pearl contains one's soul. This may or may not be the full truth, but it certainly seemed to be the case for Abandon. After she gave up her pearl, her soul, morals quickly lost all meaning for her. Once she had recovered from her illness, she began to seek out more pearls. It started with graverobbing. She befriended a Death Seeker, who would lead her to the burial sites of fallen Pearlcatchers, as they are often buried with their pearl. As she became more well-known in the black market, demand for her services increased, and she turned to outright theft.
