Biography

Local God of Autumn and Souls
They/Them

While Marionette entertains with celebrations and Hallows teaches caution through horror, Samhain fills a different, darker role. They overlook the doors and passages to the afterlife, monitoring those who pass through. They escort the souls of loved ones to their families for brief visits, and guide those who have died during the season to their final rest. Samhain prevents wicked spirits and overzealous ghosts from harassing the living, and they make sure no one overstays their welcome. They are a shepherd and an enforcer, a guardian of the natural order.

To obtain their blessing and protection during the fall season, dragons carve pumpkins and gourds, build candlelit shrines with sweet-spiced incense, and sprinkle the entrances of their lairs with the brightest leaves and petals they can find. Hatchlings are encouraged to construct little effigies of monsters and ghosts from scavenged materials, which are burned on the last night of the festival.

Samhain appreciates offers of sweets and bones, and those who please them will find they are able to detect things that other dragons cannot. This can be both a blessing and a curse; if you take notice of ghosts and spirits, they might just take notice of you.
