┌━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┐
After many years of baking, creating confectionary masterpieces from the smallest of bon-bons to the most grandiose of 7 story wedding cakes, Jammie thought she was ready for any request. But when the neighboring clan's mischievous Veilspun pair Trick and Treat made an order, she was rather suspicious. Many dragons would share pieces of their day with her as she served them their pastries, and an unusual amount of those stories seemed to be grumblings about the duo's horrible pranks. The dragons that shared these gripes always seemed to feel better after a danish or three.

Perhaps, she thought, they just needed something sweet, and maybe they'd calm down, lighten up on their pranks. With this in mind, she read over their request, and became puzzled all over again. It was a simple note, but the contents were something she'd never seen before.

"A perfectly lifelike, Fae-shaped pastry."

She'd made cookies in the vague shapes of other dragons before, plenty of fondant figures in a wide variety of scenes on cakes, but a whole pastry, made to look like a proper Fae? The thought wouldn't leave her head the rest of the day, nearly to the point of distraction from her work. It seemed absurd, though the pay they were offering was quite generous... perhaps, it was worth a try. She wouldn't be one of the most well-known bakers in all of Sornieth if she wasn't willing to make anything once.

For the first time since she opened her shop, she closed her doors, while making sure to leave certain regulars' orders on a tray outside, along with a large basket of free treats for the trouble. While the world continued outside, Jammie was hunched over her counters, working a croissant dough to the perfect consistency, carefully molding and shaping it according to pictures she'd gathered and her memory of other Fae she'd seen come into the store. A careful cut here, a delicate mark there.

She spent the entire day working on this masterpiece, and for a finishing touch, spread some of her world-famous Strawberry Jam onto the wings, a sweet, striking pink. Only when she was entirely satisfied with how Fae-like it looked, did she set it in the oven. Wiping her brow with a claw, she glanced to the window - it was already growing dark. Cursing her inability to pull herself away from her work, she sluggishly trudged into the house portion at the back, only now noticing her stomach's rumbling complaints.

While she was distracted however, she didn't hear the careful picking of the front door's lock, or the gentle buzz of tiny, mischievous wings. The pair slinked behind the front counter and into the kitchen, grinning from horn to horn at the sight of the pastry in the oven. Trick thought it looked delicious, and who could blame him, but they had a plan, with Treat ignoring any hunger she felt and pouring her magic through the oven window.

By the time Jammie had finished her dinner, they had already flitted back out the front door, leaving no trace they had ever been there. She went outside and pulled the cart and basket back in - nothing left, of course. There were even a few handwritten thank-yous and pre-orders for tomorrow.

She was yawning by the time it was ready, carefully taking it out and gently setting it onto an extra large cooling rack. The dough was beautifully flakey, the jam was sticky but not runny, and it looked very nearly like an actual Fae taking a nap on the rack. She laughed to herself about the ridiculousness of the order, then stumbled into her room, slumping down onto her bed for a good night's sleep.

In the early morning, she put on her best apron and planned to make some of those pre-orders, looking over the papers in her claw while moving into the kitchen. She almost didn't notice the fact that the pastry was missing. No one in clan would dare steal from her, lest they be banned from her baking forever, though in the back of her mind, she wouldn't put it past those Veilspun to take without paying.

Despite all rational thought, she searched her whole kitchen, just to make sure she hadn't, somehow, misplaced it, though how she could misplace something like that was beyond her--

She stood in the doorway between the kitchen and the front of the store, staring unblinking at what she wasn't sure was real. Right there in front of the pastry case, hovered a Fae dragon, tiny hands on the glass, peering in at what little was left. The dragon seemed more flaky than scaly, and its wings were almost glistening - a sweet, striking pink.
