If there was ever something that V regretted most, it would be fragmenting himself in the first place. For he hadn't always been V.

In a final bid to rid himself of weakness, Vergil split himself in two with the Yamato: from him, V was born the sickly human half along with the demon Urizen. Perhaps the irony lies in that only once he was freed of his demonic hunger for power did he realize what a mistake that had been.

Thus began his journey, slowly dying as he roped his brother and son into defeating his demonic half wrecking havoc on society. Eventually, they succeeded, and he was rejoined into Vergil... at least for a while.

In his youth, V might have read hundreds of stories involving dragons, but he was never disillusioned enough to believe they were truly something that existed. Now, he would have to amend those previous beliefs, as they surrounded him.

Whatever it was had tampered with the blade's ability to cut through space and time, and what should have been a simple devil-hunting mission flipped their lives upside down entirely.

Now he, Nero, Dante, and, perhaps most strange of all, himself as Vergil, were stuck here. Oh, his full self had tried to send them back, but whatever had affected the katana in the past did not seem so inclined to do it again and return them home.
