Biography
The door jingled as it opened. Odd. Nothing is for sale here, so why put a welcoming bell? It’s not as if the dragon inside is partial to company, either. Majesty walked in, her tail dragging on the floor. She looked around, curiously eying the bookshelves.
“Be there in a minute! I’m almost done with this-” Ah, there he is. It’s the bookkeeper. Exactly who she wanted to see. The death seeker on her shoulder fluttered off, and began examining the desk in front of them. It pecked at the pages of an old book, and it pulled on the pages which looked so ancient they may as well have been dust.
Jade, the resident record keeper and librarian, hurried around the corner after a minute. He looked fine until he saw who was waiting for him in the room. And then he looked worse when he saw the page pecking that was going on in his absence. Majesty smiled a little before lifting Conspiracy up and away from the book, which he loudly protested.
“Silly boy, that book is worth more than any ring you could steal. Leave it alone.” She talked to the bird as if it was an amusing misbehaving child. Jade cleared his throat.
“Umm, hello Ms… Majesty?”
“You make it sound so formal! Please, refer to me as Majesty. Or, if you cannot help yourself from adding a word in front of it, your Majesty works just fine.” Majesty couldn’t help the spreading grin on her face. What an odd little dragon.
“... Yes. Got it. How can I help you?” He worked with his claws while he worried with his face, quickly shutting all nearby books in fear of a curious crow investigating them again. Majesty simply stared at him and smiled.
“Well, you see, I heard from some of the clan that you’re a very reliable source of information. Specifically on events and clan history.” At this he seemed to brighten up a bit.
“Why yes, I am! I have a very large database on historical events regarding this clan, and much of it dates back to before I was even born!” Jade seemed re-energized by the subject, moving his whole body to emphasize his words. Despite his prior nervousness, any signs of the reserved dragons from just a minute ago were gone.
“Oh, well, I’m not sure you’ll have anything on this subject. See, not much is known about it.” Majesty put on a tone of mock sadness, but if he noticed Jade didn’t seem to care.
“I’d be happy to provide any information I have on the subject! I’ll even research it if you like.”
“Oh, you’re such a dear. Well then… I suppose I have to ask, do you keep information on other dragons?” He hesitated before slowly nodding.
“Not… officially no. Mostly I just keep information on small events. But if you have a question about someone I… suppose I could answer it as best I can.” Interesting, he doesn’t seem nearly as excited about this kind of subject. Well then…
“Oh that’s fine, you see I was thinking yesterday, there’s quite a lot of dragons in this clan, and while I certainly don’t know all of them I do at least know about all of them. I haven’t talked to either, but I know about the Chef and his daughter. I know about the Cleric and the Mechanic. I know about the Starwatcher, and the Scientist, and his Creation. But I thought about it and, well I realized…” She leaned in closely, her eyes all staring at the nervous pearlcatcher, “nobody knows about you. So then, Jade? Tell me about yourself. I’m quite curious.” Clearly, this was not the kind of question he was expecting. Despite being still, he almost tripped over his own talons.
“Me?? Why would you be interested in me?? I can promise you that ANY other dragon would be far more fun and interesting to learn about then me-” Despite Majesty not moving towards him, he backed up against a wall, bumping his head in the process. She couldn’t hide the amusement plainly plastered on her face. She didn’t say anything as he rambled on about being uninteresting.
“Really, I don’t understand why you would take such an interest- I don’t see what's so special- I mean, I’m flattered that you’re curious but- I am very boring. Really! I don’t do anything ever.” Majesty laughed at his distress.
“Have you ever heard the saying 'still waters run deep, Jade?”
“Well, yes sometimes they do, but I am just a puddle! I promise you it would be a waste of time to bother yourself with me.” She sighed in an amused way, her eyes all staring at him.
“Really, Jade? How bad do you think it is? What about you is so boring? Surely you have some kind of hobby beyond work?” He stared at her, dead in the eyes. It almost shocked Majesty, how serious he looked in that moment.
“I collect and sort screws.”
“... no, yeah, I see what you mean now.”
