Children of Carthach and Dairine aren’t born - they’re made. Like their parents before them, they’re shaped out of latent elemental magic, but this time, they were created on purpose. After centuries of existence, the two nature spirits have learned how to manipulate the magic that suffuses Sornieth to create new life.

Shaped like a dragon, but unmistakably fey, any hatchling of theirs is uncomfortable for mortal dragonfolk to be around. Most don’t care, more interested in their own goals than conforming to the expectations of those around them, but some few children become experts at adapting instead. No matter what, they all have a powerful connection to the nature and earth magics that gave them form, and no one, not even their parents, know what they will become.

From a young age, Faolan delighted in shifting into every animal shape he could manage to copy. Something about the act came naturally to him, and he found an essential joy in experiencing Sornieth through the form of a wild thing. Shifting lets him witness aspects of nature impossible to experience through the limited capabilities of his dragon form. Nothing can sniff out a marsh rabbit the way a gale wolf can, just as nothing can climb a tree quite like a forester squirrel. Faolan is constantly looking to learn about new creatures, and his thirst for novel ways to experience the world of Sornieth may just lead him to partner with mortal dragonfolk.
