»I can't bear to see you lose anything else, Liana. Why are you so careless?«, Leydia shouted during one of their fights. The fight that started the war within Liana. »You just can't bear losing me«, she replied in a cold manner. »And what is so wrong with that? You are my sister, you are the first connection to my former home I was able to make within all this time...« For a moment Liana would just stay silent. Her head facing where her sister's voice came from. It almost looked like she was staring at her but that was impossible without eyes. And then her mouth slowly opened, her tongue licking her lips for a moment before simply answering those six words: »I am not yours to lose«, before turning around and leaving. Liana knew, she always knew. She was nothing like her sister. Their alikeness stopped with the colors and patterns of their fur. Liana remembered how she got into this lair. The mist that had wrapped around her, clouded her mind. But it wasn't enough to take away her memories. She remembered everything and everything that she remembered she kept hidden, from her sister and herself. Suppressed, locked away deep inside her mind. But it had consequences. Nightmares over all. But at some point those nightmares came to her even when she wasn't asleep. Voices whispering ... The nightmares disappeared but the voices stayed. Kept pestering her, asking her questions she didn't know the answer to, kept putting doubt in her head. The closer she listened, the more intense the voices got, the deeper they dug into her mind. It was her secret to bear because she knew, Lediya would not understand. Would over-dramatize it and yet another fight would begin. So Liana suffered in silence - well. Silence to the outside world, inside her head there was no second left that was not filled with whispers, laughter or screams. She tried her best to not let it interfere with her life. One day though, one like any other, the warrior let them distract her during the most inconvenient time. Right in the middle of combat, surrounded by enemies and the faintest whisper got her to hesitate for a heart beat. Claws dug into her skin and stole her sight. That incident seperated the bond between the sisters, at least on Liana's end. A fight erupted between them with Lediya being overbearingly protective, limiting Liana's freedom. She didn't want her feeling to turn into resentment so she started to withdraw, took training sessions without her sister and started to form a new bound with the voices. She started to find aid in their whispers that could at least partly replace her eye-sight. Trust formed; if they yelled "Evade", she did. If they called out for an attack, she also did. It seemed successful - and puzzling to anyone watching her fight because noone could explain how she could "see" without her eyes but still perfectly evade enemies. Something was up ...but no matter how often one would ask her, her answer would be silence. |
