CREMEGLACE
Waxen Wings
Sweet, sweet Cremeglace. Ever striving for the light. No matter how many times she must fall, she picks herself up. Mistakes are inevitable, and yet joy and strength must be worked for. She knows that, and that is why she fights. She's always been a fighter. Cremeglace knew that her destiny was not as a loyal follower, but as one who would not follow the rules. Who would choose her own path and her own happiness. It's tough. It's hard to be strong sometimes. When your wings are failing you, your paws dragging you down as you strain to reach the sun. Waxen scales tire as she ascends, higher into the dusty clouds. You would think it would be blinding, so close to the edges of the sky. Yet it is dark and ethereal, the light of many stars visible despite the clear day. But then, you would expect such icy dark to be cold. No matter how many distant galaxies she can lay her eyes upon, she is still to high. Too close to the sun, and the burning air between the cage of the earth and the faraway stars. She has been strong all her life, but she can be strong no longer. Cremeglace's wings are trickling away, feathers slowly melting. Her breathing is shallow, the pain unbearable. But she must be careful, for if she were to fall from this height, she would surely die. The descent is painfully slow, as daggers stab into her wings, drifting lower and feeling the cool airs of the earth. Oh, the glorious coolness of Sornieth fills her with a overwhelming regret. Why had she done it? Perhaps she would never fly again, the thought crossed her mind as she touched down with a thump and lay, gasping for air, on dew-laden grass. But to see the stars as though they were hers alone, to fly so high that none would be able to follow and drag her back to a life filled with rules and restrictions... For that moment, she would do it all again.

The legends old Told from all grounds Of a destined place Beyond the clouds So shimmering gold And soft the air Forbidden treasures So true and fair Above the skies The endless joys Entice the brave Young girls and boys But beware my friends Don't be naive Of the siren song That you perceive I too once tried Flew up so high My confidence Had reached the skies The sights were great A feeling so grand My dear children You must understand To reach so high For what's not yours Though truly grand Beware what lures The world so kind Will quickly take A part of you For your mistake Now here I stand Before you all To tell my tale Of flight and fall Be careful now Hatchling and old For though the sky Holds all the gold Your mighty need To touch a star Will cost you dear Don't reach so far Though I have seen Wonders so true My wings have gone To join the view I shall not fly But only dream To soar again Through windy streams So now I ask Imploring ears What matters more Your hopes or fears? |
