Biography

{Note: this lore is slightly outdated, and no longer completely fits in with my vision for my clan. It will be tweaked in the future}

Beek is a very... confident dragon, with a bit of a cruel streak. Born to a wealthy family in the Nature flight, he never struggled with any self-esteem issues as a hatchling, and was always convinced of his own intellect and talent. As soon as he reached adulthood he packed his bags and set off to find a place where other dragons could appreciate him. And that place, he decided, was Oasis Junction.

Despite his ridiculous name, Beek has one of the most important jobs in town (well, according to him, anyway). He is the self-declared "'Official' Rule Enforcer" of Oasis Junction. To be clear, he's not a guard or a police officer - in fact he doesn't even get paid for this. No, the role of "Official" Rule Enforcer is a special job for special dragons, and merely having it is enough of a reward.

His duty, as he sees it, is to simply go around town and make sure everyone is following the town rules printed on a large sign down by the train station. If he catches someone breaking them, he approaches them and says, with a condescending tone, "You know you're not supposed to be doing that, riiiiiiiight? Because it is against the rules." Oftentimes this is enough for them to apologize and sheepishly skitter away, but other times his target will ignore him or tell him off. He always loves it when this happens, because it means he gets to do his favorite part of his job - nagging. He will follow them around constantly, even after they stop breaking the rule, breathing down their necks and questioning every little thing they do. If he's in a good mood he might stop after a few minutes, but he usually keeps at it until his target bursts into tears or begins shouting at him. Once he's satisfied that they've gotten the message, he'll fly away with a smug grin on his face, hoping to find someone new to torment.

There are times, though, when he is forced to back down. Sometimes a strong, intimidating dragon will bare their teeth, partially unsheathe their blade, or do any number of things to tell him, without words, that if he keeps bothering them he won't live long enough to regret it. When this happens he'll quietly back away, until he knows he's safe - at which point he immediately whips out a notebook and writes down a brief description of them to bring to the town leader. Because, despite his nastiness, he's still not selfish or cowardly enough to let a potentially dangerous dragon wander around unchecked, even if it could make him a target later.

Over the years, Oasis Junction has gotten many complaints about Beek, calling him anything from "a nuisance" to "unnecessarily mean" to even "downright cruel". But Firth, the town leader, refuses to do anything about him. After all, his method does technically work, and it's a lot cheaper than having to hire law enforcement (the town does have an official judge, and he's expensive enough on his own). He is disturbed by the power trip Beek seems to get from all this, but as long as he's not making up his own rules Firth believes that trying to stop him would be more trouble than it's worth.

TOWN RULES
  • No loitering on or around the train tracks. It took forever to clean up the last guy who got hit.
  • No operating on or interfering with the trains without proper authorization.
  • No stealing.
  • No killing people, outside of self-defense.
  • No hitting people, unless they hit you first.
  • No street performers.
  • Every dragon must clean up after their familiars. Violators will be harshly punished.
  • No messing up the train's timetables (that means you, Lurker).
  • Anyone who smashes through walls must pay for the repairs.
  • All bank robbers must give their full name and home address before taking any money.
  • No saying the name "Uncle Mikey" around Mok. We don't know why, but every time he hears it his eye starts twitching and he acts really weird.
  • If you're going to pick your nose at least try to hide it.
  • FOR THE LOVE OF STORMDAD, DO NOT LET YOUR SCREAMING CHILDREN RUN AROUND INSIDE THE RESTAURANT.
