Almandine

The Mother of Creation

Almandine wasn't discovered by the Lapidian priests until after the discover of Rubel, but truth be told, she was born first. While Rubel guides the Lapidians towards valuable and important items, Almandine either makes or inspires the creation of those items. No one knows the circumstances of her birth, but some believed that she sprung from a painting or tapestry during the week where the magic surged that also brought forth the birth of Rubel. Many dragons of the Clan of the Lapidia will pray to Almandine to get ideas for either artistic projects or inventions.

Like Rubel, the Lapidains named Almandine after a gemstone, particularly the Almandine variation of the garnet, which glimmers as a bright magenta in the light but as a deep wine red in the shadows. However, dragons don't argue her appearance, because unlike Rubel, she's more willing to appear in the visions of those she guides, their dreams ranging from her showing a dragon something intriguing in her grasp to dreams that could instruct the dragon how to create said item.

There's a legend that Almandine created Rubel and gave him his taste for treasure. The Legend says that when the light bled from his wings, Almandine used the charged magic to create the rubies that spawned around Rubel. When Rubel opened his eyes for the first time, he saw Almandine as a beautiful crystalline Veilspun before him. He began to pursue her, enamored with her beauty and it was always like she was a giant crystal figure just a hair out of reach. He was so deeply infatuated with Almandine that he took on an appearance similar to her, and in return Almandine was so flattered that she began to leave gifts and pieces of herself in the form for rubies for him to find. However, giving Rubel pieces of herself weakened her overtime, and Rubel, seeing Almandine dull and weaken, fell into despair. Rubel wasn't sure what to do, and stopped collecting Almandine's gifts in hopes she would heal, but instead both deities stagnated. Then, one day Rubel left one of Almandine's stones in the hands of a priest, who made a beautiful talisman from it. The priest's inspiration to create something from Almandine's gift gave her some of her power back. From there, Almandine realized her purpose was to help these dragons create. So it became a cycle where Almandine would leave her gifts, Rubel would help the Lapidians find them, she would offer inspiration, and the Lapidians would create empowering both of them.

The Lapidians see Rubel and Almandine as a couple, and in Lapidian mythology the two are married in an eternal dance of creating and gifting. Almandine was given a statue next to Rubel's in their shrine, and some of the Clan's artists have been using the pile of offerings from Rubel's statue to make a mosaic around Almandine that makes it look like she's weaving the fabric of reality.
