Helianthus has taken a liking to tinkering with machines and mechanical objects and familiars, and has become quite skilled at repairing and creating new mechanical objects.

He is very devoted to Salvia and follows her to and from The Shifting Expanse; there he is able to learn more about mechanical engineering and mechanics.

He and Salvia had been forcibly separated for a period of time before they both joined Clan Juniper. They had been forced out from their first clan by insurrectionists, of whom Salvia and Helianthus opposed. They were each taken to separate and remote locations, and left to wander or die. Thanks to a stroke of luck, a scout from Clan Juniper had found Helianthus, and when he told the scout of his wife Salvia, the scout sent word to the whole clan and soon Salvia was found, rescued from a horrible fate, and given a place to call home -- for good. Helianthus feels indebted to Clan Juniper, and together he and Salvia work to make life within the clan better for all.
