Biography
Though she bears the primal magic of the Arcane flight instead of the ice from her species homeland, Esotopes is still a Gaoler at her core and is quite drawn to the idea of studying and researching aberrations and unknown creatures. It is quite possibly her upbringing within a mixed clan outside of the orders of the Southern Icefield is what spawned her focus delving deeper within the magic of Sorenith itself, as well. Taking the title of Seeker only to stave off the ill feelings of other more traditional Gaoler, Esotopes eventually found herself drawn to Nightmire, following visitors from an affiliated clan on a visit from the Arcane flight. The bizarre magical currents and the many alien forms found in the secluded swamps of the hidden away town intrigued her greatly. Eventually, the Gaoler ran across a strange spiral living deep with in the swamp by the name of Orias. Running an institution under the name The Winged Werecat which stood in the bones of an old magic shop, he offered her a place to study and live, and she accepted. Though Esotopes is stern and closed off, not going out of her way to socialize with other dragons who live in and visit nightmire- she isn’t outwardly hostile. The Gaoler has always had an easier time associating with the magical aberrations she’s studied and some beastclan than other dragons. This is more out of a feeling of not having a place in Gaoler society by not strictly confining herself to their standards- nor feeling like she has a place in modern dragon society either, as she’s criticized more by others of her own species for allowing herself to indulge in more self serving habits. Even still, she’s very slowly shed some of her utilitarian instincts and has taken to occasionally doing her mane, and trying very stoically to start up conversation with other residents of The Winged Werecat. The one surefire way to get her interested in conversation is to bring up her research, Esotopes being fiercely devoted to her areas of study. She holds a belief that the elements surely came from somewhere before the dragon gods, and that some other wild magics should be studied out in their natural environments, in substitution to the walls of an icy prison. But be careful, and be ready to answer a couple hundred questions before she lets you out of a conversation about magic! space Fun Facts [>] Though she lives alongside Orias and his students, she doesn't trust him. The lengths he's willing to go for his work concern her. [>] Esotopes is rarely ever seen in her quarters, spending a large amount of time out in the woods searching out magical artifacts or strange creatures. [>] Her current areas of study include (but aren't limited to) the two stone behemoths found outside town, who accept her presence, and the fairyled court further into the everglades who tolerate her on strained grounds. |
