Won from Mercy Subspecies: Dragon For Lore Contest
I was once asked by a fellow Mercy if I had ever taken the risk of posing as a Necroservus in my travels. Normally I would scoff at such a question, and skirt my way around the subject. You never know who you can trust and if they might report you to the Necromantic Council for their own gain. But after spending some time with the bogsneak I felt I needed a story to one-up all the tales she had told me. So feeling the need to defend my honour and pride, I launched full force into telling my tale.
“It was near the end of the day and I was relaxing at a tavern waiting to meet a friend. I had been staying in this town for a while curing small ailments. I passed it off to the townsfolk that my Ma was a Necromancer so even though I was a Servi I could still heal a bit.”
The bogsneak interrupted my tale to snort and say “ They really bought that terrible lie? Anyone with half a brain could have figured out you were full of it”.
That got a rumbling chuckle from the skydancer’s throat “Yeah, in my early days I was a terrible liar. I can assure you I am much more capable now. Anyway, I’ll skip to the good part.
“So next thing I know two Holy Knight are entering the tavern because they were passing through on their way to escort some Council members. In my flustered state, I abruptly stood up knocking over my chair in the process and accidentally healing the spiral sitting beside me.
The male spiral exclaimed excitedly “I can see! Thank you for curing my blindness, I can go back to doing alchemy again! I didn’t know Necroservi could heal, thank you so much!” And at that moment I knew I was doomed, the Holy Knights saw the whole interaction and definitely knew I was not a Necroservus.
I starting running as fast as I could out of that tavern while Holy Knights yelled at me “Stop, imposter! You must pay for your insolence!”
They did manage to get a couple of hits on me but once I was able to fly I was home free. Why you may ask? It apparently was my lucky day because the two Holy Knights were a snapper and a mirror. Who I could outfly any day.
After the tale, the first thing the fellow Mercy had to say to them was “Oh, so that’s how you got the scars on your legs. So is the Necromantic Council still trying to track you down or are you in the clear from your little stunt as a youth?”
The skydancer scratched his face and replied rather proudly that “The Council has quite the bounty out for me. Let's just say after that I was on their radar and have had several run-ins since. They laugh to themself and say “At this point, it’s a fun pastime to see how long I can stay in an area before someone finds out and reports me to the Council. Plus, it helps me stay in shape and keep my hunger in check.”
After that the two dragons part ways as friends with the promise to see one another again and swap more stories.
Armour, represented by all armour sets, Pyrite Pauldrons, Glacierguard Platemail, and Steampunk Wing Armour: commonly a symbol of defense, indefatigability, resolution, tenacity, stoicism, retribution, and loyalty. However, a Mercy wearing armour is as likely to be afraid of attack as to be prepared to attack another. While some may help true Necromancers who crusade against chartalans, undead, feral Ghouls and Liches, plenty wear armour for fear of their own safety.

@WolfTrickster: You've won the Unnamed Skydancer! I love the worldbuilding you incorporated, the idea that once he had feigned being a 'servus and that due to a close call now he does not.

Tall, proud and ready to defend themself, this Mercy has a close enough colouration to pass themself off as a Necroservus - despite the risks inherent in such an act. On the one hand, it's much better to be treated as a travelling Necroservus with unusual abilities than a plague-devouring fairytale monster - on the other hand, if they're found out, who knows how the nearby dragons, let alone the Necromantic Council will react. Have they ever taken this risk and if so what happened as a consequence - and if they didn't, what was their reasoning?
