CHATHIN, THE READER


Not all fortune is good, and few know this best as Chathin does, whose tarot set is far more likely to tell you the time and method of your death than who has a crush on you. His face is hardened in animatronic fashion, his jaws hinging and unhinging in a strained tightness that implies some manner of curse. Perhaps it is the type of curse that allows one the foresight to see into the future, at severe cost to the seer.

He delivers his predictions in a poetically blunt manner. His handwriting being immaculate, visitors often walk away with their dooms neatly written onto fancy parchment, in case they would like to hang their imminent demise above their mantle. It's a morbid souvenir, but one that a surprising number of dergs are eager to get their claws on. Are his predictions correct? There's still some dragons left around to ask.

It appears that the circus has a great admiration for this dragon, hence his admission among their ranks. Chathin detests their treament of him as some sort of living art exhibit, but his disgust is tolerable for intrigue: no matter how many predictions he makes of his peers, and no matter what nonsensical, dangerous stunt they pull, most of them do not hold immediate death in the cards.

...the key word being most of them, of course.
