Biography

Aftermath (Plague Subspecies)
AFTERMATH
Native to the Abiding Boneyard, Aftermath dragons have evolved for a single purpose only: to survive. These dragons are dull in colour, the only distinctive markings that they possess are the bloodstains or radioactive waste remnants on their wings or feet. Wildclaws and Mirrors make up the bulk of this subspecies, with Snappers, Spirals and Faes rarely appearing in the Abiding Boneyard. Aftermaths may live in clans of one subset, or may be found as a mixed subset, including Scavengers, Radioactive, and on rare occasions, Lurker or Warrior.

Symptoms: Aftermath dragons, as their name would suggest, linger in the places where disasters have usually occurred, or where a fresh carcass has been left to rot. They are probably the most common of all subspecies of dragons, so they are a rather plentiful food source, albeit a little stringy (good luck catching one, though). They are one of the better evolved species, being hardy and immune to most poisons (except for the rather deadly Poison Bottles). They have no problem wading through tonnes of radioactive waste or the huge body of a dead dragon, hence the colourful stains all over their bodies. The most dangerous weapon of an Aftermath dragon are their own fangs and claws. Their saliva contains a mild sedative, but other than that, Aftermaths contain no poison at all. Aftermath dragons that practice magic are an unusual, if not rare, occurrence. Packs of these dragons are to be avoided at all costs; they may be cowards but facing several hungry Aftermaths will not end well.

Weakness: Aftermath dragons are cowards at heart. They will almost never face another dragon alone. Not in a fair fight, at least. They will, however, take on small groups of wandering dragons or trespassers (Aftermaths are extremely territorial) but only if they are starving or if the group of dragons are relatively small and defenseless. They are small-sized and despite their tough hides and immunity to poisons and viruses, Aftermaths are not completely invincible. Extremely poisonous dragons, or stronger, tougher ones, will be able to overpower them easily.

Lifestyles: Lone Aftermaths are a rare sight. They prefer to travel in packs, and are fiercely loyal and protective of their kin. Keep an injured, sick or old dragon out of an Aftermath dragon's view though, as you may wake up to a dead dragon and your clan an Aftermath less. They do not hunt, preferring instead to scavenge what they can, when they can, making them valuable diggers and scavengers. They are nomads, never staying in a single place for long. Packs of Aftermaths are rather small, with the largest group ever recorded being 15. The average number of dragons in a pack tend to be 10, as it is hard to feed so many mouths, yet easier to bring stronger prey down.

Camouflage: Aftermaths have dull colored coats and hides, making it easy for them to blend in with the wasteland. Occasionally, a few Aftermath dragons will pop up with coral-colored wings or body in the Abiding Boneyard, making them easy to mistake as dragons of the Skinless breed. This is considered as an advantage, as not many predators will willingly attack a Skinless dragon (who are known for their inability to feel pain).
