Lore

Dreaming- it's a strange, strange thing.

So when Dreamworld woke up, covered in fur, horns sprouting out of her head, she was awfully confused. At least, she thought she woke up. She might've been dreaming about waking up and- was getting carried away. She often had to reign in her thoughts like that.

Dreamworld looked carefully on the strange lair, a mishmash of misshapen rocks and different colors. It was silent. A bit too silent for such a colorful place that looked like it would always be active. Then she saw a new dragon walking from the path towards her. They looked to the sky, then at her, then back to the sky, then they rubbed their eyes and looked shocked.

"Who are you? Stay- stay back, weird beast!" She shouted at the dragon. They were grey, striped with tan streaks, and a bit blue on their head and wings. And much, much larger than her. Which amplified the scary effect.

"Weird beast? What kind of place did you live in where you can't recognize other dragons?" They said back. "I- I'm- where am I?"
"Well, this is Sornieth. You're the second visitor who knows nothing here, so I feel obliged to ask if you know someone by the name of Kingsnake."
"Well, yeah. Pretty much everybody knows them."

Dreamworld watched them nod in response. It was strange, seeing a dragon with so much fluff on their head able to nod.

The fluffy dragon told her to follow him, and she did. Not entirely trusting, however. Kingsnake was.. feared. Not someone you'd want to be around. And it seemed like the fur dragon was taking her to him. She didn't like that, but if she was to learn about this world, Kingsnake was the best option.

She stopped thinking for a moment when the fluffy dragon rung a bell. It was loud, and she flinched because of it. Dreamworld heard a loud thumping. Leaves flew and branches snapped, before a glowing dragon flung themself violently into the stand. It took a minute for them to regain their composure- if they had any in the first place..

Kingsnake was only about double her size. Large, but not as bad as the fluffy one was. Actually, the fluffy one was leaving. "Your problem now, Kingsnake." They said. Dreamworld snapped her focus onto Kingsnake and fidgeted. He was mostly peaceful, but... when he wasn't, it was not the most pleasant of situations. From what she knew.

Kingsnake fluttered his wings and looked at her. She was wary, and followed him as he walked tentatively. When he stopped, and entered a very run down looking hut. He sat across him from a table, and listened as he explained 'Sornieth' to her. He stopped halfway through when remembered that he didn't know who Dreamworld was.

"Could you tell me who you were, back in our world?" He said calmly.
Dreamworld didn't want to answer that. They were not the best of friends back there.
But since there were so many around here, who seemed kind enough to know that murder was bad..

"I'm.. Dream. Dreamworld Esca.."
Kingsnake choked on the air, temper rising. "You, of all dragons, someone as ssstup- You can't help either of usss get out of here. Couldn't it have been sssomeone els-" He stopped in his sentences several times, as if evaluating if saying things like that would get him in trouble. He cooled his anger and held himself back. "I can't believe you're still this blind, Esca, to tell me who you were."

She lowered her head. "At least I'm brave enough, unlike you." Which was when Dreamworld realized that she had stepped far over whatever friendly boundaries were in place.

Kingsnake leaped toward her, and was surprisingly still as fit as he was in his original world. His claws desperately scratched at her neck, almost reaching through the fluff. After a while, it became a bit more clear that he wasn't aiming to kill her, or even injure her. Yet. If she did anything like that again, Dreamworld was willing to bet it wouldn't be the same.

"You know what? MAYBE I AM A COWARD! But I'm a strong one, dammit, and much stronger than you. It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter, it doesn't..."

It took him a while to calm down again, and by then, Dreamworld had already fled. She leaped through trees, running much farther than she ever had in either world. She flew, as hard as it was when she didn't know how to with these new wings, and finally found herself at a resting spot somewhere below a pine tree. There was already a hole under it, for reasons she didn't know, and wasn't particularly interested in learning.

Then, she slept.

Back in her moth form, she woke back up from whatever strange dream Sornieth was, and tidied herself. She was already beginning to forget Kingsnake, and that tree, and the fluffy dragon. It was just her and her partner, a human, alone again. In fact, the whole thing was probably a dream in the first place! There was no way it was real, and she knew about the creativity she held in her to make such a complex world.

That was exactly what Dreamworld chose to believe, until she fell asleep again.
And woke up in the hole.
