Biography

Camellia is a cartographer and explorer. They were the first to discover the Astral Arrays, nearly breaking one in the process of trying to figure out how they work. Camellia was also present on the first expedition into The Breach, and was one of the only four survivors. Camellia is a pleasant, excitable, and slightly ditsy dragon. Their background before they showed up and started mapping the territory held by Clan Murklight is unknown, even to them. Camellia does not care. Camellia makes map. There is nothing but map.

Below is information on the Murklight Territories, mapped and written by Camellia. (Zoom in for better view)
map_1.jpg

The Breach: An island south of The Veins, located within Shadebrisk River. It is full of strange fauna, bizarre flora, and twisted geography. At the center of this island, where the surroundings are most hostile, is a magical anomaly in the shape of a small, jagged fissure in the ground. White light is emitted from deep within and burns any who come into contact with it. The Breach is watched by Clan Murklight, both out of a duty to contain the anomalies that reside on it, but also to study them. Flight over The Breach is impossible as any who attempt it experience what is colloquially known as 'gravity is backwards here I'm falling please help me', a phenomenon felt as soon as one goes higher than the canopy of the forest. Thus, ground travel is usually the safest option.

Breachwatch Tower: A large tower erected by Clan Murklight to Watch over the Breach and the only bridge that leads to it. At the top of the tower is an observatory, because of course there is. Beneath that is a series of balconies and watchpoints. Then below there's the laboratories, the library, the barracks, the living quarters, and finally the basement storage room. Within the storage room it is rumored that a large creature made completely of leftover materials that dripped down from the alchemy labs above. The creature is named Globby. He likes to eat garbage so we let him stay down there. He is shaped like a friend and I love him.
Quote:
Antimony, Head Alchemist of Clan Murklight would like to issue an official notice that there is no 'Slime Creature' that exists in the basement of Breachwatch. I would also like to dispel any rumors that it was I who created the creature on purpose for the soul purpose of waste removal intentionally as the creature does not exist in the first place. Such baseless rumors should not be heeded and investigation into the matter is unnecessary. In fact. Nobody should go into the basement at all.

Charred Lowlands: Nobody is quite sure on the history of this borderline wasteland. What was once a lush forest (evident by the scorched remains of plant life, animals, and the occasional dragon) is now a blackened, inhospitable wasteland. The area is plagued by ash-storms, which bring with it odd, crazed wraiths made of dust which attack anything living. There are occasional reports of other types of undead lurking about, presumably shambling out of a cave system running through the northernmost mountains of The Talons, beneath the Lunar Array. The current, and most plausible theory as to what happened here is that a Clan of Plague dragons warred with a Clan of Fire dragons. Though how necromancy became involved is anyone's guess.

Lunar Woods:
Moon Array:

Moonshade Lair: A tall, shadowy fortress made to house dragons who wish to study the Moon Array. As the area is incredibly hostile, with the undead of the Charred Lowlands to the north, odd monsters lurking in a large cave system beneath The Talons, and reports of shadowy creatures falling out of the sky... Moonshade Lair is fortified, and guards posted here are armed to the teeth.

Shadebrisk River:
Star Array:
Starbound Den:
Starbound Lake:
Starfall Beach:
Sun Array:
Sunblessed Lair:
Sunblessed Peaks:
Stillwater Lake:
The Talons:

The Veins: A sprawling, marshy delta connecting Shadebrisk river and its connected lakes, tributaries, and the like to the ocean. Despite its spooky atmosphere, it is relatively safe to venture into; assuming one knows how to avoid leeches, mosquitoes, and the odd predatory animal. It is rumored that in the deepest parts of the swamp are the ruins of an Array. Though these rumors have not been confirmed, there are the odd pulses of magic that are, as of yet, unexplained. During a full or new moon, the swamp is known to go silent and droves of fireflies dance among the ever-present mist. This is what initially drew Clan Murklight to the area, and they considered building their dens here. Unfortunately the terrain was much too unstable and damp to set up any permanent buildings. So Clan Murklight settled nearby, discovering yet more wonders and mysteries. With each changing of the moon, many of the Clan visit the swamp to watch the fireflies; several claim it inspires them to continue with their pursuit of knowledge, whereas others merely think that the sight is pretty and worth the trip to see.

Woodwatch: Woodwatch is a small fort that was found and restored by Clan Murklight. Several dragons are posted here to keep an eye on the Lunar Woods. It serves a secondary function as a training grounds for young dragons who want to follow the way of the warrior, particularly those who wish to enter the service of the Arcanist, instead of the way of the scholar. There's a (mostly) friendly rivalry between these young dragons, and the various apprentices.
