Biography
In a tall, pulsating green tower, perched proudly over the pools of the Quarantine Zone, the dragons of Lixiviation Laboratories live and work, protected by the glowing green membranes keyed to allow only their kind inside. The proud work of hundreds of biomancers and genetic engineers, the translucent windows of this towering egg-like structure allow scientists and mages to work in peace and sterility despite the steaming cognitions outside the slick, translucent membranes. It is powered, much like any other living thing, by food: either food tossed through the filter, or enemies that attempt to pass through unbidden.
Although the lair has few natural defenses to speak of, few but the most savage dragons dare to stalk carefully around the carved pools of the quarantine zone, and those who do manage to reach the tower and attempt to pass through the membrane without permission suffer a gruesome death, all organic matter eaten from their bodies by the ravenous filter. Their calcified skeletons are displayed as war trophies and armor racks by the clan's four warriors, or assembled and reanimated into skeletal necroautomatons to be used as lab techs, grunts, and test subjects.
Passing through the filter, even with permission, can be unpleasant, but the world within the Laboratories is a far cry from the bubbling horrors outside - a bustling, sterile, and cozy world of scientists and magicians from all flights and disciplines, working together to study and categorize the violent strains of disease and magic that make up their world.
