He was just into adulthood when Corpal's mirror pack killed him. They shredded his wings, tore into his face, and ripped his silk apparel. To his birth clan, it seemed that his life ended, but it was actually just beginning.

Corpal came, a big Ridgeback wearing spines as sharp as his cruelty, and Smoked half the poor Imperial's soul. He was sold to the highest bidder, Manylem, as a slave: she possessed the half-Wisp that held half his soul, so he was completely loyal to her. She kept him in iron chains and made sure that his body was always very, very cold.

With the help of the mysterious Xenin, he escaped, recovering his ring and a sword imbued with the tiniest bit of magic. He pledged himself to cleaning up what the Soul Smokers leave behind. He knows the danger of leaving soulless bodies unattended; anything might sneak in. He dismembers the empty bodies and makes sure the dead stay dead. The Ghostlight Ruins are a frequent haunt of his, filled as they are with the unnatural undead.

Clans, if they aren't too scared of him, may ask him to dispose of any emperors in the area.
