Aleph knows how some see her flight… dark, mysterious, dangerous. Some say that nothing but wrongness is grown in the dark. The gaoler knows differently. Light casts shadows, and they are as necessary to life as the brightness. Shadows soothe, they provide refuge from the spotlight, and they can let you rest like nothing else.

But she acknowledges that sometimes shadow can draw you in and make you feel lost. Aleph has appointed herself a guardian of those who lose their way in the dark. No matter if the lack of light is physical, mental, or emotional, she can help you find your way back home.

The lantern Aleph carries is actually less a physical illumination than it is the harnessed power of positive energy. Whatever type of brightness is needed, it will adjust. Should your eyes be unable to see the path in front of you, it will light the way. If your mind insists on only focusing on the negative, the flame can show you the happiness to be found in your situation. And if your heart feels like it will never glow with love and life again, you feel the warmth of it penetrate you like invisible rays of hope.

Aleph knows what it is to be without light… and so she will do her best to make sure those around her never have to suffer that fate for long. The gaoler makes it her life’s goal to break others free from their prisons… and to remind herself that the world is full of brightness for her, as well.
