Wayenqi

Everything about this spiral dragon is light, from his voice and laughter to his nature, movement and humour. Eternally optimistic he simply believes anything bad will eventually blow away. Born among the reeds of the windswept plateau he spent most of his young dragonhood flitting through them blending in perfectly with only the sound of his delighted laughter on the wind to show where had been. This dragon spends very little time on the ground, some even think he sleeps in the air. With so much experience in the sky he is very sensitive to the air currents and can utilise them to fly much faster than other dragons. Slipping through the winds like a thin bamboo leaf Wayenqi flitted about the land as wind dragons often do, though he did not settled much until coming upon this lair. Letting the balloon attached to his wrist guide him as he often did the bobbing apparatus drove him towards it.

Upon landing the spiral gazed around curiously, the lair was halfway up a huge stack of earth and crystals, the winds singing beautifully in the canyon around it vaguely reminded him of home. Venturing in he was met by some friendly dragons who were happy to help him with what geography they knew, most of them having travelled a long way to be there. With such adventures and distant lands to hear about the spiral ended up curling up and staying for longer than he expected. When he eventually shook out his feathers and readied to go off again a faint stab of sadness curiously hit him. What if there were more lands and adventures to hear about? Could some of these dragons go to places he could not? Flitting off he had the alien feeling of missing something as the cave entrance grew smaller behind him. His lucky balloon gifted by his family just did not want to leave either, the small contraption dragging behind him. Unsure what to do Wayenqi spread his wings, flicked his tail and soared towards the Crystalspine Reaches.

Flying through the jagged curved peaks was unlike anything he had done before, the mountains closing in as if to hug him when he flew under them, and when he spiralled over them and the sun caught the crystals it created a glorious explosion of light. He found himself laughing as he used to do when dancing through the reeds at home as he spun around through the air, the heavens and light reflecting off the mountains and sea all merging together in one glorious song of the sky. Well, he couldnt leave after that could he? Eventually alighting back on the cliff side entrance Wayenqi announced he was staying, and that was that. Now he can often be found enjoying the errant winds that gust around the Crystalspines and raised land stacks that make up the isles, he even flew close to the observatory once, being quickly warned against doing it again.
