Ozie smells like night-blooming honeysuckle and hot sugar. The smell is attractive to insects: ants, beetles, bees, butterflies, hummingbird moths and even, sometimes, hummingbirds -- though those are of course not bugs, but to Ozie they are equally welcome. His hide drips sweet nectar, and he's happy to share the bounty with his little visitors.

He is seldom seen in winter and vanishingly shy in autumn; the change in weather makes him slow, makes his joints ache. Late spring and summer is when he'll be around, crooning to his little visitors and bundling bouquets of wildflowers to stick to himself as decoration.
