Stonyfury stepped outside daintily. There’s more fresh snow on the ground.. guess it snowed last night!”Well, no wonder I slept so well last night! The fresh pitter pattern of snow came down, didn’t it, Merlen? Ain’t it beautiful? Ah wait hold up. It’s too cold for you to be out here wearin nothing.”
He looked down at the shivering centaur. “Let’s go back in and get you a big ol’ coat.”
the both of them turned around again and quickly closed the door. Rummaging around in his closet, Stonefury pulled out a centaur-sized coat, with holes and sleeves for all of his legs. Carefully, he helped Merlen put it on. The dude stopped shivering immediately, and sank deep into the warm coziness of the coat. Then, Stone opened the door again and the both of them trotted out.

“Mornin Blaidd! Mornin Billows!” He chirped in greeting. “I’m heading out with Merlen to help him find his family. I should be back... before dark. See you later!”
“Good luck, Stone! Hope you find them!” Blaidd called back before she hurried off on her own adventure.

“Alright Merlen. Where are you from? I know you don’t understand dragonspeak but- oh wait! We should ask Billows about that! Billows! Billows, wait! Can you help me?” Stone turned around suddenly and hurried after the medicine dragon. “Billows!” Merlen hurried to keep up with him. He doesn’t want to be left alone in this land of dragons
“Yes? Do you need help with something?” she responded.
“Yeah! Is there a way to understand what the beast clan say? Or for me to be able to talk to him?” He hurriedly asked
“Well- that’s a special talent only few dragons are gifted with. Like me. I can understand them. Slightly. But they can’t understand me. Only a special few beast clan members can understand dragon. Like...” She tilted her head slightly, waiting for him to finish the sentence.
“Neidr! She can understand dragon? May we go over to her? I’d like to be able to explain the situation to Merlen!”
Billows nodded her head enthusiastically. “Of course! Let’s go!”

this coat is so warm... How did the dragon know to give it to him? Why was it being so .. nice to him? All the stories he’s heard of dragons have ended in blood baths- most of them being his own clan mates. It’s his fault though. He wandered away. Too far away. This dragon found him and despite being able to easily crush him, he didn’t.
Merlen glanced around. Wait. Where did the dragon go- ?! He spent too long thinking to himself, he didn’t realize it was done yipping at that other dragon! “Um- dragon?! Dragon, where did you go? I- augh. Help?”
Another one of the fluffy dragons with the wolf heads must have heard him. This one has a white stitched wolf head. It lowered its head to his chest and lightly bumped it in a direction. Caught off guard, Merlen stumbled, then stood still. Apparently that wasn’t good enough for the white dragon, because it pushed him again. It’s trying to tell him something.. the direction. It must be trying to tell him that the other dragon, the dragon who saved him, was over there. Taking the hint, he started to trot in that direction. Looking around he finally caught sight of the green speckled dragon. “Oh! Dragon! There you are! I lost you for a secon-“
“Hello? Billows tells me that there’s another beast clan member here?” A female voice said. A voice he can understand!
“Y-yeah! I’m here! Behind this dragon!” He peeked out and saw the author of the voice. A snake beast, from the clan and a half over! “Hello-“
“Oh phoo. I was hoping it was one of my kind. Hello, yes. I am Neidr. You are Merlen. Fabulous. Why couldn’t Billows just talk to you herself? Why must you drag me into these things?” She huffed, crossing her arms
“Why are you here? Don’t you want to go home?”
“Go home? Ha. I am home. These dragons feed me, keep me warm, and entertained. Not to mention the fact that they’re herbivores.” Neidr raised an eyebrow. “Though Billows tells me that Stone’s trying to help you find a way home?”
“Stone?”
“.... the green speckled dragon? The one you’ve been with this whole time? Merlen. Don’t tell me you didn’t know his name!”
“I don’t speak dragon! How would I know?! And why do you keep calling me that? Merlen? What is that?”
She tilted her head. “Your name. Stonefury said that was your name.”
“That’s not my name-“
“Well it is now. You want to go home? And leave the comfort of being treated like royalty? That’s fine. I’m here to help you.”
The other dragon, the one who’s name is ‘Billows’, yipped something at Neidr. “Yeah? I am being nice! This is nice. Being mean would have meant I’d have eaten him by now!”
The dragon growled in a disapproving way
“Yes. That was a joke. I would never actually eat him. I was kidding. Is there anything else I should tell him?”
Billows looked at Stone, then shook it’s head.
“Well even I can understand that one.” Merlen interrupted. “So what you’re saying is that this dragon-“ He put his hand on his fur “Excuse me. Stone is trying to help me find my way home?”
Neidr nodded. “Rather stupid if you ask me. Just stay here. It would be much easier for everyone and you’re gonna live in paradise! Well it gets kind of cold here but you can just suck it up. Seriously, if you choose to stay with Stone, you’ll get food without having to work for it, a nice warm hone to sleep in all the time, and no other dragons can harm you. You’re protected!”
Listening to what she said, it made him reconsider. “Sigh. You’re right though. It would be much nicer than having to run with the group every day. I have said that I wanted to settle down before so ...”
“You’ll stay?”
“Yeah fiiine.”
Neidr looked up at Billows, who chirped something to Stonefury. Stone looked down at Merlen with obvious surprise filling his eyes. His tail wagged a little bit before he got up again.

“Come on, Merlen! Let’s go!” Stonefury hopped a bit in the snow, leaving big intents behind. The centaur followed him- not quite so closely in fear of being squished, but just as excited and bouncy as the dragon.”It snowed again! Woo! Snow!”
Merlen made some noise too, noise that Stone couldn’t quite understand, but could tell it was noises of happiness.
“When we go inside again, I’m gonna make some hot cocoa.”
