Schorl grew up among bandits and thieves. They were not a violent tribe who actively seek to do harm but their methods were still less than respectful. It takes a hardy and ruthless sort to rob the resting sites of the deceased. Schorl felt no guilt for his crimes. The dead have no use for trinkets anyway, just leave a bouquet and be done with the whole affair.
Naturally not many share his views and when he was caught they were lenient enough to give him a choice in his sentence. Multiple years of community service with parole or jail.
At least with the service he was paid a decent wage.

Sanitation and pick-up duty isn't that bad. Not really. It's a big lair so hours are long but the residents are (mostly) good enough to keep their trash easy to pick up. Kasper and Cujo both help him out from time to time with heavy lifting. Cujo has the muscle and will help anyone who asks him. While Kasper knows the importance of keeping a clean space for the residence and the tree they nest in.

Occasionally he'll see something among the piles that really shouldn't be there.
Later, he will find a nice pile of treasure on his windowsill when nothing is reported.
